Swim
Comments: My swim was okay. They took a break just before me so I didn't have to worry about congestion. Got passed by two people. My nose plug (wish I could go without it) slipped twice and I had to pause to re-adjust. What would you do differently?: More practice. This was slow for me, I should be able to do 2:00-2:06 per 100y. Transition 1
Comments: Tranistion was pretty smooth and went well, worst part was the bike out chute was muddy. Ran with my bike shoes on and they got lots of mud on them, I was worried about clipping in but went pretty smoothly. What would you do differently?: nothing. Maybe eventually learn to jump on bike and go. I currently stop, clip in one shoe then go. Bike
Comments: Overall I felt like I put in a good effort. Still a lot of room for improvement. The headwinds and gusts made it challenging. I was overall happy with my shifting, there was one last hill right before transition that I could have attacked better, I was really spinning in the easiest gear by the top and going slow. What would you do differently?: More bike practice, learn to mount and dismount faster. Transition 2
Comments: work on faster dismount and run in, my hip is always stiff coming off the bike. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: This was my worst run of the 6 sprints I've done. My shins were really stiff and hurting when I started out. I stopped to stretch a few times. Too much walking in the first mile. Not until 1.25 miles did I start loosening up and running more. Did run/walk intervals but didn't time them. What would you do differently?: Not sure why I felt so bad after the bike, never had shin issues like that before. Post race
Warm down: none ;) grabbed some bbq and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: My weight, need more training. Event comments: Couple of observations, I put a swim time of 2:06/100y, but they decided to leave 15 sec. between each swimmer which meant the event started at 10am but my swim start was 11:48, nearly two hours of waiting around which wasn't ideal. Probably made for less congestion in the pool but I hate the waiting to start, also meant I suddenly had to think about eating again before starting as too much time had passed since breakfast. I like the bike course on this race, but the bike out is a little winding and I saw many racers have difficulty mounting as they are trying to mount and navigate a quick turn at the same time. Many close calls with the faster racers. Bike out/in is very close together and there was a chance for head on collision if the racers weren't careful. For those who care, they award finisher medals for this event which was nice as you don't see that in sprint level tris very often. BBQ lunch at the end was good. BBQ was yummy, macaroni and cheese was good but cold, corn bread. Nice change. Last updated: 2013-01-01 12:00 AM

Event didn't start until 10 am so we slept in, got some breakfast (egg mcmuffin), stopped by the grocery store for some fruit and drove to the race site.
