Pre-race routine:

Set up my transition spot. Test water and get a feel for how I'm going to come in and out of the transition area. Talk to other entrants and see what they think of the course. Stay hydrated, eat a bar of some kind, and relax and clear my head.
Event warmup:

Stretch, run in place with high knees, get in the water and swim for at least 50 yards.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 500 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

I had a hard time on the last 3rd of the swimm. I was surrounded by swimmers and couldn't pass.
What would you do differently?:

I would sprint the first 100 yards.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I flew through my first transition. The only issue I had was trying to get my shoe in the stirrup quick.
What would you do differently?:

Keep practicing my transitions. Not much else.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 17 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

I didn't have any cycling shoes or clips. I used my normal pedals with straps I got from a sporting goods store for my old pedals. I did have an issue with my chain and seat, but those were not too bad. I had the bike serviced four months ago.
What would you do differently?:

Get my bike service a week before the event. Find simular terran to practice on.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I biked with my running shoes so all I did was rack the bike, off with the helmet and out to the run.
What would you do differently?:

Do more bricks
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.25 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I need to do more bricks. After the turn around, my legs didn't bother me. My butt was already crossing the finish line, I just had to catch up to it!
What would you do differently?:

Bricks, bricks, bricks...
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

A training regime that was focused on cardio and weight management vs. one focused on running, swimming, and riding. Plus the transitions.

Event comments:

I am going to do this race again next year!
