Run
Comments: This was just a fun thing to do. I had no expectations to run this time. I was hoping for sub-35. You see, I ran 20 miles the day before as part of my marathon training, so I was just going to see some neat scenery. When I did the first mile in 6:24, I figured I may as well keep it up. My strategy was to be constantly passing people. It shows in my splits too. The only one that wasn't faster than the previous was the one where I got a stitch. I decided that if I felt bad, I'd slow down. This was a D importance race, so I wasn't too concerned with the result. But it turned out well. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this run. Mile 1 - 6:24 Mile 2 - 6:15 Mile 3 - 6:23 Mile 4 - 6:16 Finish - 6:08 BONUS: Got a PR at the 5k by 7 seconds. New PR: 19:40. What would you do differently?: Not run 20 miles the day before. Post race
Warm down: Got as much food as I could get my hands on and went back to the finish line to see if I could see my coworkers. I didn't...there were too many people! What limited your ability to perform faster: Running 20 miles the day before. Event comments: I'd do it again. Last updated: 2013-03-02 12:00 AM

Bagel with a little peanut butter and some honey with coffee. Stopped eating 2 hours before gun time.
A coworker picked up my race packet and bib for me. Their gun time was 45 minutes after mine, so they were late getting those things to me. I had 5 minutes to get through the gate and to my corral. I was close to the front and they tried forcing the gates closed. I was trapped in a mob surge and almost crushed. Scary. Needless to say, I ran to the fence as a warm-up. While waiting, I jumped around to keep from shivering.
