Swim
Comments: best swim yet in sprints; maybe we had "current"? maybe "short"? maybe "I'll take it (gladly,) & tk u ABBA!" stayed away from pack(s) little to no interference. What would you do differently?: concentrate on form, breathing more; kick a little less, etc. overall swim was EXCELLENT. Transition 1
Comments: couldn't wear wetsuit, tho' I'd like to train/experiment w/ the diff challenges of this/it. maybe this Oct water wont be too warm for me not to give a rip about being counted in results. (I'm usually middle packer anyways) one day, I'll learn to jump or semi-jump the bike part but... What would you do differently?: ...overall 1:18 T1 is very good time for me thus far in my development/experience (no practice/no "tri-camps", etc). Bike
Comments: my Garmin tells I was faster....wish it was right (& their time/data too). too slow at embark & disembark but not enough to bear out 19.4mph but it is what it is....swirly 20+mph winds n all. What would you do differently?: pray harder for lesser winds? pedal smoother so as to not tax on bike before the run? Transition 2
Comments: stop sitting al! my butt n hams don't like having to get up from sit position. why do I still do this? "Jam n scram" & maybe I can turn a "30 sec" T2 someday?! What would you do differently?: "Jam n scram" hmmm...I like that phrase. maybe some youtuber will post it on "things a triathlete would say" in the future.... : ) Run
Comments: well...was hoping to improve/do as well as last yrs pace but alas, t'was not to be, this day. seems my calves were talking "conspiracy" (cramps) along w/ "rumors of collusion" from the hamstrings, as I started out jogging along just short of a 9min/mi pace (ugggh!) eventually I got going and caught some folk who passed me earlier (no, not the milers/pros,silly) only to find they were "saving it" for sprint finish (no names nec here) as they "crushed me" at the (slight) uphill finish line/mat; leaving me to think about the "what if's" before I accepted this day's reality(ies). What would you do differently?: have nice loose legs that can handle a 22mph bike avg and still sprint a 7min/mi (or better, one can dream) avg for a great run-time at LBK and perhaps "place or show" if not "win" age group. still my recovery from the start of jog pace leaves me thankful to ABBA for a stronger finish. I certainly didn't lolly gag this part....as I gave something close to "my all"....pain/endurance wise, if not time-wise. Post race
Warm down: where's those FAMOUS JUMBO SIZED cookies??? "Damn the torpedoes and full steam ahead!" (i.e., frig the health food for now and pig out on some empty carbs) What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. me 2. wind 3. fitness 4. timing hmmm...make that multiple choice a) b) c) d) and yes.... a) is the right answer. Massage? maybe one day some masseuse's will show/be here (hint hint), with biz cards &/or fab rates if not gratis. Event comments: very good comp to most I've been to; can be improved but then again, so can I (improve). tks and kudos to one & all at LBK. keep up good efforts and word will get out more/better. I certainly will share/tell. "a beeeedy beeeeedy beeeedy bee, Shalom folks!!!" Last updated: 2013-03-06 12:00 AM

Sunny
Overall Rank = 35/189
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 6/17
up (too?) early; "time flies when...." egg sandwich after little warmup stretch routine; car packed n ready to go... TOA = 0530ish; fumble around in the darkness. try to warm-up again but one can never stretch enough for these tri's (just ask yer legs ;P ). racking not too badly jammed till late arrivals (6:30-45ish) start panickly showing up.
little/small jog; one day, I'll do like Frey says and run a 1k-1mi warmup but alas, not today. ck gears, ck tires "pump, pump, pump, whew!" rack bike/set up. go down to water..."we gotta swim where??" take long walk around clay courts & pavement (follow the leaders/herd of penguins,); get in water; waters warmer than 60's air; can't hear - earplugs;
Horn goes off...Thank God I'm TRULY on the right side of things...
