Run
Comments: Was going out to just run however my legs felt. No initial goal here but to finish, but then I decided to try to go under 4 hours. First few miles were very crowded, as I started WAY back, so there was a bunch of zig zagging. Around mile 5 I caught up with the 3:40 pacers, so I just decided to stay with them. Legs were a bit tired, but they didn't get OVERLY tired at any point really, so I just decided to stick it out for as long as I could. Around mile 22, the pace group started to slowly pull away, and that was fine. At mile 23, after going up a steep hill, I got some crazy pain in the back of my right leg, just above my calf and it shut me down like a cramp would. I tried to stretch it out, then did the "hop /run" thing for about a mile. It slowly worked itself out and by the last mile and a half, I was able to push the pace back up. The course was long, which seems to be the norm here lately, but since that wasn't a real issue for me, I just went with it. Finished, got my medal, and waited for Char to finish. We grabbed some snacks, found the car, hit Starbucks, and zoomed home! Good day. 3rd of 4 weekly marathons. Next week is the Flying Pig! What would you do differently?: Nothing. All is well. Post race
Warm down: Walked back to car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: Nice course and good crowd support. I'd do this one again. Last updated: 2013-04-06 12:00 AM
