![]() Swim
Comments: I thought I was doing really well. Apparently not. My time was almost a minute slower than last year. In the last 1/8 of a mile, my timing chip came off. I felt something on my ankle, reached down, and the timing chip fell into my hand. I swam the last little bit in a half fist drill holding onto the timing chip. I spent the rest of the race with it in my pocket getting it out when I crossed timing mats. What would you do differently?: Swim harder I guess. I felt during the swim that I was doing well. Need some more interval training to get faster. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: in this race the bike time includes both transitions. my bike computer says i was on the bike 43:31. The race time says 46:08 on the bike, so 2:37 is transition. I think this went well given that I had trouble getting one of the bike shoes on. What would you do differently?: nothing really except maybe eventually learn to ride and run without socks ![]() Bike
Comments: not a bad ride. Thought I left a little bit out there. Particularly given the times put up by others in my age group What would you do differently?: push harder. train harder. lift more ![]() Transition 2
Comments: good transition What would you do differently?: not take the swig of HEED that I took before I left transition ![]() Run
Comments: worst run I have had in this race in the three years I have competed. Worse than the first time I raced here which was the first tri I ever ran. I was hot, my stomach was upset and I just never got my pace up to where it should be. What would you do differently?: I don't know. Definately not drink the last swig of HEED that I took. May not use HEED again. I should have pushed harder, but I didn't. It was hot, not the hottest I have ever been (not White Lake) and humid. ![]() Post race
Warm down: stretched, drank recoverite. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure. This was an A- race for me. I really wanted to do well. I was more than 4 minutes slower than last year. Don't know what happened. The week before was tough at work and I did not sleep well, but I also did not work out Thursday or Friday trying to rest my legs. It was hot and humid, but not overly so. I guess I need to train even harder and work on speed. Event comments: I enjoy this race. This was one of the three I was focused on this year, along with the two Halfs. I was extremely disappointed with my results. Later in the day, watching the US Open, it occured to me that this may be like golf. You can play the same course every weekend and some weekends shoot well and then every so often, nothing works and you have a horrible day. that was one of those days for me in the race. the bad thing was this was a race i really wanted to perform well in. Oh well. Back to training Last updated: 2006-06-19 12:00 AM
