Run
Comments: Well, I wasn't as motivated to run hard as at ROCK CF half since I'd gotten the elusive pr. My poor night's sleep and off tummy in the am combined with a more rolling course and higher winds didn't help me either. But once I started running, it was just go as I feel. I took a gu at 4 and 9 this race, and had some stitches, but never overwhelming. I felt pretty good throughout and it was very motivating to see folks so many times on the altered course. It was a bit hillier than normal, so I was really surprised when I finished and saw a tiny pr! I knew where the hills were on the last 5k and like my run hero Cathleen, ran with my heart at the end. The finishers shoot was LOOOOONNNNGGGG! :) I think I could eek out a wee bit better time, if I could trust myself to suffer longer than the last 5k. A work in progress for sure! What would you do differently?: I WISH I could get a decent nights sleep, but that is totally out of my control of late. :) I didn't go out too fast, paced myself well on the rollers, drank and gu'd enough...happy with the 10 second pr on a tougher course in higher winds! Post race
Warm down: just met up with Lloyd, Paul and then walked to meet Cathleen, Brian, Dave and Joe to cheer in the rest of Team Green, Team ATCK and FREEZE my arse off! What limited your ability to perform faster: Possibly the crappy sleep of late, my attitude about racing all out with my recent pr. :) Event comments: It's great fun to race Martian as so many folks come out to race it. And the course changes made it so you could see folks multipule times. It was awesome to know my cavesister was at the last aide station and would cheer me (and accept my blown kiss! no air for words at that point lol!) Really happy with my first "race" of the half here. Now I just gotta break 1:51:00! Last updated: 2013-04-13 12:00 AM
