Run
Comments: At the half marathon mark, I was on pace to finish with goal time of 4 hrs (1:59:33). About mile 16 was when I felt like I needed to walk. For the rest of the race it was walk/run. Light rain/mist fell from about hour 3 to hour 4, but I don't feel it effected my performance. Lungs never felt a problem during the run it was muscle soreness/tightness, esp the calves. What would you do differently?: Needed more high mileage runs (15-20 miles) during training. Post race
Warm down: Just wanted to leave ASAP after the race. Next time, I'll stick around to stretch in the runners only area and sit for 15 min or so. Shuffling through the huge crowd in the family zone was slow, frustrating, and painful for my legs. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of long distance runs. Next time I would run 3 runs of 20 miles in the training leading up to the race. Event comments: 1st marathon so I'm happy that I did it, however very difficult physically and mentally the final 8 miles. Last updated: 2013-05-01 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 am. Had coffee, cereal (Honey Bunches of Oats) with milk. Left house 5:30 am to drive down to St. Paul. Marion St exit was backed up with traffic for a few blocks. Took 15 min or so to get from exit to Sears for parking. Took the shuttle from Kelly Inn down to Metrodome. Line was around the entire hotel and had to wait outside, standing for 30 min +. Arrived at Metrodome, met Eric.
None, figured the very tight race group would make for a slower start.
