Swim
Comments: This was probably my best swim ever. During the first 200 meters I noticed I was trying to blast through swim and my breatjhing was all off so I held back a bit, slowed down and found a good rhythm. I was focued on my swim this time instead of everyone around me. A very happy medium! The jellyfish were cool to look at. What would you do differently?: Keep the rhythm but push a tad harder. Transition 1
Comments: I tried the "shoes on the bike" method this time and it worked so much better than running with cleats. I think it actually looked like I knew what i was doing this time. I almost threw up at my bike rack, the bar water was super nasty and have had a sinus infection since. Bike
Comments: This was a fun bike course however I feel that my seat was angled too much downward. I had a alot of forward weight on my arms which I felt on the second loop. Not to self, no more last minute adjustments for comfort. What would you do differently?: My gears are off, need a bike tune up. Transition 2
Comments: And once again tried something new taking my shoes off while riding. Not as easy at it looks! But made the transition much more enjoyable without running in cleats. What would you do differently?: More practice taking shoes off on bike. Run
Comments: I need to drink more on the bike. My calves cramp on first quarter mile on the run and I have to stop to massage them. I could have probably taken 5 mins off my run if I didnt stop. After first loop I got my second wind and pushed super hard to finish What would you do differently?: Work on my hydration and nutrition. Post race
Warm down: Chocolate brownies and bananas and that delicious honey beer! Protein shake and I actually walked around the venue this time. What limited your ability to perform faster: I tend to focus on an area (swim) during training that I am struggling in and let my strong areas get weak (run). Work on a better fitness plan. Event comments: I had a blast at this event. Not too many competitors and the venue was basic but well managed. Lots of locals in the area that I have raced with before and it was great seeing them again. The music was focued on an adult audience which was nice (80s, 90s,) Will be back again next year. Woke up about around 3am, had a bowl of cereal, drank some pedialyte and some coffee. Got the event about 5 mins before transition opened.
Stretched my injured shoulder out a little but, took an exedrin and ate a Gu. Layed on the grass for a bit to gather my thoughts.
