  • Comments: I had a blast at this event. Not too many competitors and the venue was basic but well managed. Lots of locals in the area that I have raced with before and it was great seeing them again. The music was focued on an adult audience which was nice (80s, 90s,) Will be back again next year.

  • Comments: This was my first Tri! I wanted to be under 1:10, not being sure about transitions and what i could do with all 3 together. So i would say that i was VERY happy with my result. Loved being 2nd out of the water too! I think with some more/better bike and run training, i can sustain the same swim and shave time off the rest.

  • Comments: This is a good early season sprint - especially for beginners. There's also a duathlon and super sprint distance for those looking to ease into things or to compete without the swim. I did the duathlon last year and just felt that it wasn't a very competitive event. I need to work on my swim, so this was a good exercise for me. Also fun to race with Monica. First race for team Hi-Tech Bikes, too - glad to be able to podium for the team.

  • Comments: Overall, I had a great time and really enjoyed doing this sprint tri. The support and organization of this event was the best I've ever been to. I was surprised on how well I handled the swim portion given that it was my first OWS and 3rd time ever to swim in a wetsuit. This was my 4th sprint tri and really glad I flew in from Phoenix to do it. I look forward to doing next years and getting a better time!

  • Comments: Always a good race to start the season with. Looking forward to doing Carlsbad in 2 months, I really want to improve on that one from year 1 where the run kicked my ass.

  • Comments: I really like this race. It is a good introduction to the season. I am really happy with my performance, even though I had the EXACT same time overall and on the swim split. I was slower on this year's bike but faster on this year's run.

  • Comments: 6th out of 24 is best performance to date. This is the first race where I ranked higher on the bike split than the run. Very pleased, especially considering lack of swimming. Leg strength was stronger than last year's races.

  • Comments: Great beginner's race as it is short, flat, and fast. Bike might be just a bit technical, but nothing too hard. Technical part lies in the fact that you have about 6 decent turns to make and a few narrow areas. Swim is perfect for a first time open water race as it's very protected in the Bay. I would definitely do this race again as it was very well run, parking is right near the transition area, everything ran on time, its an easy course, and its right near my house.

  • Comments: Awesome race. This was my second tri and the difference in my comfort level compared to my first race last year was huge. I was having fun the entire time even though I was working hard. Lot's of friendly people at the race which helps tons. The racks were tight but everyone near me was polite and encouraging. I would definately recommend this race to others.

  • Comments: I have only done 2 at this point, so my experience is limited. The atmosphere wasn't as light and friendly for me as the Desert Tri was. Glad I did it and glad I did the full sprint and not the super sprint.

  • Comments: Even though I'm upset by the run, overall I'm very pleased with this race. Why? Well, for one simple reason -- if you had told me a year and a half ago that I'd be completing a triathlon, I'd have asked you to get your head examined. So to have come this far is really wonderful, and I'm quite proud of it. I've met so many cool people through this new hobby, and I'm so grateful. It's helped me adopt a much more positive outlook on life than what I had before. And as for the running.... well, I've decided to focus my efforts on just that, or mostly that, over the next few months. Jogging twice a week just isn't enough volume for me to improve. So I intend to get out at least 4 times per week and try to work through this hurdle -- a hurdle which is probably as much mental as it is physical, perhaps even more so.

  • Comments: Great race. Nice area and super fast course besides the sand on the run. It was a wam bam thank you maam kind of race. Not the kind of race I am training for. I like to pace and go longer but doing a sprint was fun and a good experience. Overall pretty stoked I got 5/26 in my AG in my second tri ever. Just need to run faster and I would be a competitive AG'er for a podium spot. Will like to do it again next year after I have a year of run training under my belt and see if I can finish significantly faster. Not getting there with time to spare made me anxious and deffinatly affected my preparation which I think is important for a race of such short distances.
