Swim
Comments: Still was way traumatizing! I am now thinking it's a mental issue, being freaked out. I again did a lot of breast stroke, so I think I will now train doing more breast stroke, as I naturally go into it during this whole thing. Loads of seaweed. Big "wake" waves from boaters watching a ways out. Again, I felt panicked with so many people trying to swim in the same space. What would you do differently?: ? I am beginning to wonder what I can do to make this part better. I love to swim! But put me in open water with a hundred people and lots of waves and I feel out of control and panicky. I want to feel like I own the swim, not like I am just swimming to get to the finish without dying. Transition 1
Comments: decent transition. Didn't let trauma of swim effect me as much as last tri. just let that panick go once i got out of the water. Ran this time to transition area (always concerned about ripping achilles or arch when barefoot). was good. What would you do differently?: nothing really. Bike
Comments: My chain popped off a mile in!!! Was SO lucky to have a woman right there where I stopped come up and help me. Good bike course. Very comfortable. What would you do differently?: Push harder. I am still not sure how much I can push while reserving enough for the run. Transition 2
Comments: This transition is good for me. I go straight into it and don't stop moving. Run
Comments: By this time, the sun was just beating down on us. The humidity and heat was suffocating enough too. So, having high grade uphill sections right away was very discouraging. Great job at having water stations and hammer gel stations and sponge stations! They really prepared for the heat in that way. My run: I had to walk a lot. It was SO hot and I continuously had goosebumps from too much heat. What would you do differently?: I want to train for more intense runs so that I can blow past this 3 mile like it's easy. So, start building up my times of runs. My goal would be to not stop running next time, no matter the temp. Post race
Warm down: Stretch. Lots of water. Walk around a bit. Slowly pull together all my gear. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat. Lack of initiative in training in recent couple weeks. Event comments: Piano Blu was a bit misleading in advertising a nice buffet for $5 cover. All profits went to cancer research, which is great. But any misleading adverts are annoying, especially when you're a starving triathlete expecting food to eat and getting none. Last updated: 2006-06-23 12:00 AM

Up by 5am. Breakfast: half a banana, English Muffin with peanut butter, lots of water. Drove up to Pewaukee to be there an hour before hand. Parking was a bit annoying, not really particular. Dropped off gear at transition site. Picked up chip. Amy and I walked from swim end to transition and through bike "out" to visualise. Waited in line at Port-a-Potties (hoping for toilet paper!) to have last "nervous #2". Lined up with everyone in waves. Did some yoga and stretching for warm-up.
