Swim
Comments: We ended up waiting over at pea patch island for the start of the race for what felt like forever The wind was whipping and there was really nothing to do except sit. Once we got in the water (about 2 minutes before start), it wasn't that bad, the water didn't feel that cold. It was real intimidating since I had never swam in a river or done a point to point swim course. Looking across from the island over to land seemed like a long away, but in the end, it wasn't too bad. The current didn't take me too far but the hardest part was staying on course because you could not always see the buoys. I focused on a yellow building that I knew was right at the finish and didn't do bad. Because of the waves/current, I had to breath to my right side instead of going bilateral. What would you do differently?: Nothing, just wish I could have bilateral breathed. Transition 1
Comments: I suck at transitions What would you do differently?: maybe start practicing them? Bike
Comments: The bike course was uneventful, it was flat and fast although the rain didn't help anything. The course was wet and I'm not used of riding on wet surfaces so pulled back a little bit from what I could have done. The bike was fast though. What would you do differently?: nothing. Transition 2
Comments: I think I said in T1 that I suck at transitions, I sucked at this one too. What would you do differently?: being practicing them Run
Comments: Course was a flat out and back, again, this was uneventful. This is my sport, so I excelled at it, felt good the entire time. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: none What limited your ability to perform faster: the weather. I think if it was sunny (or at least not wet), I could have pushed the bike a little harder. Event comments: My rating is probably not fair since I wasn't really expecting much from the bike and run, this was really to test my swim in a river in prep for IM Louisville. Volunteers seemed a little scarce, crowd support was non-existent however Pihrana still puts on a good race, i might be back to swim the river again. Last updated: 2013-05-19 12:00 AM

stayed in a hotel in Elkton, MD... normal routine, up early, coffee and water only until I got to the venue, it was about a half hour drive. It was an early start as we had to be out of transition by 5:35am. Had my "power cereal" (quinoa, coconut milk, almond butter, bananas and protein) about 6am just before getting on the ferry.
None really except walking around the island after the ferry dropped us off.
