Swim
Comments: The swimming leg wasn't much of a swim. The water was barely waist deep for much of the course, so must people spent half the "swim" running through the water. I tried to swim as much as I could, but found it easier to give in and join the runners at times. Transition 1
Comments: This was my first tri, so I wanted just wanted to figure out the process in my first transition... I wasn't too worried about speed and that certainly showed in my time. What would you do differently?: Get better organized in transition and definitely practice getting out of my wetsuit. Bike
Comments: I felt strong on the bike. My hamstrings were in a lot of pain the first couple of miles from being so cold and wet, but once they warmed up, I felt great. Took first place on the bike in the clydesdale division Transition 2
Comments: Better than T1, but still needs some work What would you do differently?: Get more organized. Remember where my damn rack spot is. Run
Comments: Took about a mile to get the feeling back in my toes from the cold bike ride, but I felt fast and fresh otherwise. Took 1st on the run in clydesdale division Post race
Event comments: I've only done running races in the past, so I don't have a lot to compare this race to. Overall, I had a lot of fun and I think it is a probably a great tri for beginners. My only complaint would be that the swim really isn't much of a swim. If you are looking for true open water race experience, this isn't the place to find it, however a beginner could use it as a good stepping stone toward open water racing. I was thrilled to win the clydesdale division, however I may not have fared so well if the race had included a legitimate swim. Last updated: 2013-06-04 12:00 AM
