  • Comments: I've only done running races in the past, so I don't have a lot to compare this race to. Overall, I had a lot of fun and I think it is a probably a great tri for beginners. My only complaint would be that the swim really isn't much of a swim. If you are looking for true open water race experience, this isn't the place to find it, however a beginner could use it as a good stepping stone toward open water racing. I was thrilled to win the clydesdale division, however I may not have fared so well if the race had included a legitimate swim.

  • Comments: This was my first race so I don't have anything to compare it to but everything seemed good to me. The swim is obviously a little, well, "light". I have to carve out some more training time this summer and find one more race to do later in the year.

  • Comments: I always put too much pressure on this race because first of the year. I have finished 5th in age group the last two years and really wanted to improve on that. I did take about 3:30 off from last year and jumped to 2nd. Just my luck, I finally place and they stopped giving trophies and instead gave out bags. And no I have not won enough to be tired of the awards. And that bike that beat me to T2 was Mike that has won our age group every year I have done this race. Glad I got to meet him, nice guy but I wouldn't mind if he took a year off.

  • Comments: This race was perfect for me as the swim portion was so easy. I didn't see many water spots or bathrooms on the course if any, but then with the coldness hydration wasn't a big issue. I will do it again as it's a great location with my in-laws living in Green Bay.

  • Comments: I thought I "raced" it for the swim and the bike. Cramps really defalted my physical and mental effort in the run. Food was okay. No port-a-johns close to transition. Tight in/out transition areas for swim and bike. Odd finish line and swag. I'd probably race again for PR or try the long course.

  • Comments: Midwest Sports Event's races are a little iffy at times. This one wasn't that bad and ran pretty well. They also had pancakes, some very good bread, yogurt, pudding and some fruit for the post-race food. Pancakes! Those tasted so good after that race! A very good race for me and I'm very happy with my splits and results. I was able to shave off 5:57 from my time last year. I feel a little dirty about that short swim, but my times from this year and last were pretty close. So, all the improvements I made was on the transitions (much faster this year), bike and run.

  • Comments: Great race for a beginner, small and fairly flat, well organized with lots of volunteers. Had a blast. Can't wait for the next one. I took the data for the 35-45 YO males and compared how I did. swim 33/51; T1 49/51; Bike 34/51; T2 42/51; run 43/51; OA 39/51 No real suprises, run needs the most work. T1 needs to improve. Swim was really too unusual to draw too firm of a conclusion.

  • Comments: First race of the season and instantly remembered why I love this sport. It is a blast! I have some serious work to work out my mental issues in the swim because I don't want to give up the sport. The other thing I love about this sport are the people. The bonus for this event was meeting my fellow BTer's: Ray, Amanda and Rob. All very cool people. Amanda won her division, Rob won his age group, Ray made a mean Salsa and I... well I survived with a smile on my face (I guess we know who the weak link is here) Dispite my shortcomings, I had fun and I'm still smiling. I guess that is what it is all about.

  • Comments: Awesome kids Tri.. MY son had a blast and that was THE goal. I wish they would have waited for the kids to finish before the adult waves went off..or at least put adults with kids in the last wave. The adult tri was fun...People were friendly, helpful, excited to be there. I have a new personal record for a 5k and know i need to work on some mental prep, bike lots more, and hopefully a proper taper/warmup wont leave my legs feeling dead.

  • Comments: The first wave went out a 5-10 minutes late. After that things took off pretty quickly. They had lots of people all over that place, which was nice. People stopping traffic for the bike and directing you around during the run. Post race, it was kinda sucky. They had water from a water fountain, something that tasted like really bad Kool-Aid, Gatorade at the finish, some bananas, bars and cheese, sausage and crackers. That was a little weird. Overall, though, it was a good event. They just need to work on the Post Race - which is what I heard about some of their other events also. I would definetely go back to this race next year!
