Run
Comments: I ran legs 5, 17, and 29, rated most difficult and second longest. Overall ran this smart knowing that I have NYC Marathon in November, not hurting myself was my #1 priority. But still ran my legs hard, and faster than I expected. My predicted overall pace was 8:32 which I knew would be too fast. Drank 20 oz of water mixed with 1 1/2 tablets of Nuun and a scoop of CarboPro for each leg. Team finish time was 28:42:32, 8:42 pace What would you do differently?: Not much. Post race
Warm down: After each leg, I was really good about drinking 16 oz of water w/ 3 scoops of Recoverite right away. Also have the first two legs, I changed my clothes and wiped down my body, and stretched and used the stick on my legs shortly after running. My last leg I didn't change right after and never did stretch. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not wanting to get injured before the marathon. Event comments: This was my first relay race, and I really only knew one person on the team. But I had so much fun I'd do it all over again for sure. Looking forward to 2014. Took a chocolate Gu with caffeine about 20 minutes before each leg with some water. Took a salt tab before starting the third leg too since I felt crampy during my second leg.
No warm up, no time. Always getting to the exchange about the time of each start.
