Pre-race routine:

kashi with a banana and rice milk, about 4 oz black coffee
Event warmup:

getting my wetsuit on
Swim
  • 11m 35s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

i was too terrified of getting stung by a jellyfish to worry about how i swam, but apparently it was fast. took a mouthful of sea water when i saw one 3 feet away.
What would you do differently?:

not choose a race with jellyfish
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

good transition. bikes were a little cramped on the racks but enough room on the ground to have everything out. skipped socks and felt fine. timing chip got stuck in my wetsuit, didn't realize it till i got back to T2 and saw it sitting by my wetsuit and running sneakers. so my transition was 43 minutes long....

What would you do differently?:

check for my timing chip on my ankle
Bike
  • 39m 12s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.16 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

could have pushed harder on the bike but i lost some motivation for a minute or two when i looked down and saw no chip on my ankle.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

able to get my feet out of shoes and leave them clipped in without an issue.
the dismount area is about 60 feet from the transition and is a downhill run with your bike on pavement - not bad but its slippery for people wearing bike shoes. also almost ran out of transition with my bike helmet still on.
skipped socks and felt fine.
What would you do differently?:

need to work on dismounting while bike is still moving/not completely stopped
Run
  • 25m 34s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

great run, kept pushing. end of the run is on sand along the beach, a little akward trying to sprint in the sand
Post race
Warm down:

running around trying to figure out the USAT rules to see if i still qualified for 3rd place in my AG

Event comments:

fun race, great organization and help from volunteers. great location
