Swim
Comments: Swim was cancelled due to wind Transition 1
Comments: No T1 Bike
Comments: The bike is like any bike in Galveston. You'll have wind. Period. In our case, it was a headwind coming back. Not much you can do about that except put your head down and get the work done. What would you do differently?: Pushed it a little harder to take advantage of the tailwind on the out portion of the course. Transition 2
Comments: I sucked at this transition. My running shoes got stuck and it took me forever to get them on my feet. Run
Comments: I think out of my whole tri season, this was my most proud moment. Less than a half mile in, I wanted to stop and walk. I was having some stomach cramps, I was tired, I was done feeling. But I had a stern talking to myself and didn't stop. The cramps went away and I was able to pick up the pace. This 5K was only 20 seconds slower than my stand alone 5K in July; I'm pretty proud of that fact. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Event comments: The race was organized but the communication was horrid. Even before anything went wrong, the communication was non existent. Last updated: 2013-09-29 12:00 AM

The announcement that the swim might be cancelled came out the day before so we had a bit to adjust ourselves to that but no one knew if it would be a duathlon or just a bike/run or any of the details. It was a bit of a cluster the morning of the race waiting to see what would be said and how it would all play out.
In the end, they decided on a time trial start and closed transition for everyone before the start of the olympic.
Stand around and wait? Does that count for a warm up? We were asked to wait by our bikes while they went through the start of all the olympic racers. My wave went well over 90 minutes after the first olympic athlete crossed the start line. In fact, we heard the winner of the 5150 announced while we were still waiting to start.
