Swim
  • 40m
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

For the first time I waited 20 seconds after the gun, then took off. I had a smooth effortless swim. shaved almost 4 min off rev3 quassy swim 3 weeks ago. Same conditions. I came out of the water fresh. felt like I did not swim.
Transition 1
  • 05m 50s
Comments:

Long run to transition. wetsuit peelers were confused a little but did a great job once they figured out who was peeling who.
What would you do differently?:

peel my own wetsuit
Bike

Comments:

held back on bike because I knew what was coming on the run. I was so upset with the last 3-4 miles. It was a no pass zone and I was stuck behind a person doing 10mph. Ughhh!!!! I am thinking that cost 3-4 min
What would you do differently?:

paced pretty well for my ability to climb. my garmin 810 had the gain of 2884
Transition 2
  • 05m 15s
Comments:

missed my rack for the first time ever. Found my bike, went to change my socks and they were gone!!!!!! WTF!!!!! Someone took my socks!!! I could not believe it. I never heard of this happening before. I had to put my damp bike socks back on with some anti chaff. I wasted so much time looking for my socks which I put in my Newtons. Brand New Socks!!! WTF!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Hide a pair of socks under towel
Run
  • 2h 24m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a pebble in my shoe so had to stop. shook shoe, no pebble. started up again for about a mile. felt pebble and stopped. Was in my sock. Got through the first loop but the second time was mentally deflating. You knew what you had to do again. The people who finished where supportive but they thought you were on your last loop so that was a killer when they are yelling the FINISH LINE IS RIGHT THERE!!! I was just wishing I could cross it and get away with it. 2nd loop was just a mass amount of people walking or doing the slow jog which i did. I just kept thinking the whole time, Who would steel my socks???WTF!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Did rev 3 quassy 3 weeks ago. I thought the run would have been easier but it was not. It was harder. I need to deconstruct. I weight 215 and I am lean but it's too much weight to drag up and down.
Post race
Warm down:

Cheered on others as they came through the finish line. When my wife crossed we grabbed some pizza and wraps they had.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am too Heavy

Event comments:

I have done a few 1/2 Iron distances. The road conditions I thought were horrible. After I got out of the aero position it felt like I was using a jack hammer all day. The run surfaces were very uneven in some parts. My right hip was on fire. The swim was great and the volunteers were awesome. I have mixed emotions of this race, I don't think i would do it again but I am glad to add it to my race resume.

Course: Double loop. Out and back. The 1st mile of the run is in a field area up a grass hill. There is a big climb from about mile 2.5 to 3.5 that is horrible hard. Then another mile up before you get back to the main area for the turn around for second loop. There are no flat spots on the course. It's almost always up or down. my garmin 910 had 981 feet of gain.
