  • Comments: Funny thing is, it turns out they used the wrong city's skyine on the medal. They used Rochester instead of Syracuse. Ah, just piling on to the messed up experience that was 2015 Syracuse 70.3! Word is they are going to be mailing new medals with the correct skyline. 2 medals from a race I sort of finished, LOL. Ah, what a hot mess, but it makes for a great story!

  • Comments: Having done this race in 2010, I think it's great all of the pre-race and race day activities are all in one spot instead of a split transition. Even though the run course now is significantly harder, I like it better since the old run course had you running on the highway. It may seem petty, but the color of the women's shirt was awful...bright peach color while the guys shirt was blue. Also, I was not a fan of the last few miles of the bike course with the no pass zone. It seemed unsafe having the bike come in on the same route with runners going both directions. I saw people passing in that section and crossing the double yellow line to do so. Overall, it's a great race though. I would definitely do it again.

  • Comments: This was a well organized and tough race. It's a great gauge for your overall fitness and identifying areas of improvement. As much as I hate hills, I actually wouldn't mind doing this race again in another couple of years. There are portions of the race where it kicks your ass but plenty of areas where you can recover if you can just get through the tough parts. The bike course scenery was beautiful and the volunteers were first class. Also, plenty of great accommodations within 15 minutes of the race and I loved the fact that they opened the parking lot earlier than the posted time to reward the anal early risers who heeded the advice and got to the race early.

  • Comments: Syracuse is a challenging course. The bike is pretty tough and the run can be brutal but I really enjoyed doing this race. I think the volunteers were pretty awesome and overall I think the race was well done again this year. I do think the run in the park on the grass needs to be changed and they need to figure on that no passing zone on the bike at the end. Lot's of complaints about that I'm sure but overall Syracuse is a good race. I'm pretty sure I'll be back to do it again. It also served it's purpose of getting me in a race situation before Ironman Mont Tremblant in August. Gotta give a shout out to the Wildwood Warriors who did the race and represented very well congrats to all the Warriors who finished. I also have to thank my training partners in DQ triathlon. These guys have been kicking my behind all year helping me get ready for Syracuse and Mont Tremblant. I can't thank them enough for all their help.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed Syr 70.3! The race was really well organized, the course is challenging, volunteers were great(!) and the weather was really nice. No complaints. My daughter did the Ironkids race and placed 5th, so that was another really nice part about the weekend.

  • Comments: Well run, but really not much for the kids. This is an out of the way destination and those that have to bring families really could use better distraction for them. Check in day, the lake was closed??? Dragged the kids out there to stare at a beautiful lake they couldn't swim in.

  • Comments: I have done a few 1/2 Iron distances. The road conditions I thought were horrible. After I got out of the aero position it felt like I was using a jack hammer all day. The run surfaces were very uneven in some parts. My right hip was on fire. The swim was great and the volunteers were awesome. I have mixed emotions of this race, I don't think i would do it again but I am glad to add it to my race resume.

  • Comments: This is the third time I've done this event and it was by far the best it has been run. Things were efficient and smooth all weekend. They even ordered perfect weather for us this year. Great job to everyone involved and thanks to all the volunteers.

  • Comments: Again despite my time I had a lot of fun and there are a lot great memories, I would have loved to do better time wise but then I would have missed out on all the good stuff, so I learned a huge lesson on this one that I didn't have before and that is if your not having fun, what's the point.

  • Comments: It got crazy after the race when this huge rain and thunderstorm came in. A bunch of people were still on the course, but they closed everything down without doing an awards ceremony or roll down. Their were 4 Vegas slots in my age group. I received an email a few days later that I had qualified for Vegas through the roll down. However, I have decided to decline the spot and I'm going to focus on getting back to Kona this year. I may not do an IM next year so if that is the case, I will definitely be shooting to get there then.

  • Comments: Volunteers were great. The parking lot was a disaster. I waited almost two hours. People were very aggressive about getting out - turning around and sneaking along the sides to the front of the park so those of us at the back were stuck. It was total chaos - very frustrating. Photo showing the brief time I felt good and happy on the run!

  • Comments: I love the WTC Ironman 70.3 experience. Having everyone competing in the same race is great (no Olympic or full IM, everyone is doing 70.3). I actually liked the bike route. You get the effort out of the way in the first 1/3rd and can have fun the rest of the way. The volunteers were the best ever and I love how the whole town kind of rallies around this race. However, the run wasn't even a run as far as I was concerned. Hills are one thing, but that run course was too difficult (at least for me) to enjoy. I could even deal with the hills and some of the course difficulties, but the parking situation was a DISASTER. This location soured the experience. Spectators are pretty much locked into the park from 9:00AM until 3:30PM and trying to get out of the parking lot was a mess. For those logistical reasons, I will not do this race again, but will look for another WTC Ironman 70.3 somewhere in the near future.

  • Comments: I have to give it to WTC this was my first event with them and they were organized and they put on a good event. We got some good crowd support at different points of the course and the course is pretty challenging especially the run course. I had a great time yesterday even with the crazy weather I would not hesitate to do this race again in the future.

  • Comments: run course could be better in that it should have to start with graveled paths exiting the race was a disaster, leaving the parking lot took well over and hour as the race continued on

  • Comments: I most likely will not be racing it again, but if someone is looking for a very tough race in CNY I would recommend it. Most likely a good primer for IM LP It was well run. other than post race parking release

  • Comments: They keep changing something about the course every year so it's hard to tell if I'm getting better or the course is just that much different. This is the third year that they changed the run course.

  • Comments: Run could be better. Not just the hill (brutal) but also the lay out was less than ideal. Also could do without a "no pass" zone at the end of the bike.

  • Comments: I know a lot of people have their own opinions about WTC brand events - this was my first WTC and the entry fee sure was high but I thought it was well organized, the course was challenging but beautiful, spectators and volunteers and aid stations were all fantastic and I would do it again. Likes: more than I thought – the morning bag to dump just by the swim start was great, why don’t all tris do this? My family loved the live results – my wife had sent me a voicemail ‘congrats’ even before I got back to the car to retrieve it, she said it was great to know I was out of the water, back from the bike etc. The organization was slick and the finisher pix photos were better than most – I might even buy one for the first time ever. Dislikes: 1.) aid station fluid choices - Ironman Perform is just foul. 2.) What’s the point of putting your bike in transition the night before? I have to go in on race morning anyway with shoes, helmet, run gear etc. so what does having my bike there already

  • Comments: This is one of my favorite races on the 70.3 circuit. The course is gorgeous and challenging, the volunteers and spectators were great and the RD's really did a great job with everything. It also had a better vibe than some other 70.3's that I've done- it felt more like a 'local' event, in a really good way- but still had plenty of tough competition and the other details that you'd expect from a WTC event. I highly recommend the race, especially when they move it to June when the temps should be above 50!!

  • Comments: Thought it was a good race for me being it was my first HIM, thought it was pretty hilly on the run so alot of people were walking up the hills.
