Run
Comments: This was my fastest time for this particular course (by 30 seconds or something), but not a PR. There are 10,000 runners at the start, so the first miles are very crowded. Instead of fighting for position, I ran the first two miles with the flow of traffic, so they were slower than I would usually run them. After two miles, I was ready to get down to business, but my stomach became upset. I don't know if I drank too much water or not enough - it's a mystery. Anyway, my stomach limited me, and it hurt especially bad during the fourth mile, and I couldn't swallow any water at the later water stops, and so I was getting thirsty. Basically, I was suffering through the whole thing, but I'm used to that, and I ran exactly the pace that I wanted. I did pick out some guy to treat as a rival early in the race, and I got away from him in mile 6 or something and ended up beating him by a couple minutes in the end, so I'm happy about that. What would you do differently?: I probably wouldn't eat GU before the race and wouldn't take water until after mile 4. I think the early water stations combined with a constant uphill made my stomach angry. Post race
Warm down: I jogged back to see my sister and mom finish. I stretched some too. Then I got my spine aligned by this chiropractor. Then I got drunk on Saranac beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: My belly. Event comments: It's a great race. Last updated: 2006-07-06 12:00 AM

I woke up and went to the race. This is a dumb text box.
4-minute jog, followed by static stretching. I didn't have time for a good warmup because I had to get through the crowd to my starting corral.
I had a GU 15 minutes before the race, which is something I don't usually do before a run.
