Swim
Comments: Terrible - could not catch my breath and ended up doing backstroke most of the way What would you do differently?: Walk (rather than jog) from T1 to pool to get HR down. And of course more swim training. Transition 1
Comments: T1 (bike-swim) included in bike time Bike
Comments: Mass bike start in waves. Hard to keep no-draft distance for first 1/2 mile, but then the climbing starts and the pack thins out quickly. Very familiar course to me. I ride part of it on my daily commute. Started running out of gas on the return climbs. What would you do differently?: More training time in the saddle. Transition 2
Comments: T2 (swim-run) included in run time. Run
Comments: No real problems here, this is about the pace I anticipated. Legs felt better at the finish than they did coming out of T2. What would you do differently?: More run training. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited aerobic base resulting from too many years of sedentary life. This event is right in my backyard so I am sure I will do it every year. Event comments: Claims to be the longest continuously held triathlon in the US. Course altitude ranges from 7200 to 7800 ft. Last updated: 2006-07-06 12:00 AM
