  • Comments: Pretty good race overall. I like the different format as it presents different challenges and the bike course is difficult but fits my style of riding well.

  • Comments: This is a well run race. . . . But, if they are going to insist on Bike first change it to a time trial start for everyone. People were lining up in front with MTN bikes and it's mayhem to the 1st turn. I can't believe no one has caused a serious wreck yet. They TT the elite start and I thought it worked good

  • Comments: Great race swag. Small logo'ed transition bag, long sleeve race tee. The race is well run, I didn't like the later start for the 1st wave and 2nd wave on time, overall wasn't that big of a deal. I think the race director was first time and there was confusion in several categories for the awards. Chasing3 timed the event and I think they do a great job. Even though the format is different it is a challenge and a fun race.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race. It was my first tri, so I have nothing to compare against, but they seemed very organized and enthusiastic. I had a lot of fun talking with volunteers and other contestants. The information about competing and good stories flowed. Great race.

  • Comments: Overall it's a good race. Having the swim in between the bike and the run makes the swim harder (starting with high HR), but makes the run easier (legs get to loosen up in the pool). Overall the organization is good and the traffic control was better this year than last. I still think they take too long getting the results posted (both on raceday and on the web), but that's a minor flaw. I also wish they would time T1 and T2, but given that they do the timing manually I understand.

  • Comments: For a sprint race, even though the events were run BIKE - SWIM - RUN... this was a really well put on race and everything about it was enjoyable...even the burn on the hills. Plus I kind of liked the mass bike start. Fun to start with speed instead of giving head starts to everyone in the water. This was the 33rd annual running of this event, the longest run triathlon in the world... so they know how to put on a smooth well run race. Even when they had 100 more entrants than they expected. Fun high altitude race.

  • Comments: Really liked the race, didn't like the transition between bike/swim. Had to run across rock/rough surface barefoot and too far. Will plan on doing it again next year.

  • Comments: I had fun AND I beat the goal that I set for myself. What more can I say? It was a success. I set a goal, worked on it, and achieved it. I AM A TRIATHLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comments: This is my hometown race so I will do it every year. That said, some aspects are good - good venue, good scenery, good post-race food - some aspects are mediocre - the delay in posting times, issues with traffic control.

  • Comments: Overall, this was a fantastic race. Los Alamos is a nice little town tucked away in the beautiful Jemez mountains just west of Santa Fe. Although the course was short, the altitude and hills made it challenging and the scenery kept it from being boring. The unique format (bike, swim, run) was also nice. The swim allowed your legs to recover a little before the run. The only negative I have is the pre-race organization. The bike racks weren't marked and the racks were too close and didn't allow any place to put transition gear. Also, having two transition areas was not ideal because you couldn't get to the T2 area until after getting out of the pool (so you either had to have two pairs of sunglasses or not wear them on the run). Overall, it was a great race and I would definately do it again if I have the chance.

  • Comments: Claims to be the longest continuously held triathlon in the US. Course altitude ranges from 7200 to 7800 ft.
