Pre-race routine:

Took the El from downtown to the Montauk stop. Full pack and bike on crowded train=an experience. Many thanks to my fellow racers/train riders who helped me navigate to the race site.

Comments:

Oddest start/course because our timing started at a gate but the measured distance did not start until we got past wading depth. i don't understand the logic on that. I am guessing this swim is really 500m.

Long run to transition of temporary boardwalk. The boardwalk was plastic (you don't need socks).

Water was warm enough not to wear the wetsuit which helped.
What would you do differently?:

Wade faster out to the 1st buoy.

Decent course. It got a little hairy in the turnarounds with inexperienced & jerky racers.

N/A unless you want to knock people down, there is a limit on how fast you can navigate this course.

Easy race to like. Nothing outstanding but lots of good things. Pretty chill race which is perfect for BTers.
