Swim
Comments: start was chaotic, started in second line from front, first 100 yards was a frenzy, then settled down, stayed wide of buoys, had my own space near rocks under the bridge, swam it pretty hard, happy with time, couple minutes faster than last year What would you do differently?: not much, swim was good Transition 1
Comments: 91st in AG for T1, not terrible, suit a little stuck What would you do differently?: not much Bike
Comments: Coach told me to ride hard like a time trial then rely on fitness for the run, that's what I tried to do, HR was up from last race, pushed hard and felt good, just not as fast as the other competitors, finished fairly low in the bike but a little faster than last year, more crowded this year as I was in the first wave last year What would you do differently?: not much, rode it hard Transition 2
Comments: rank 132 in AG in T2 - below half, didn't think it was that bad Run
Comments: after the hard swim and bike curious to see what I had left. first 2 miles felt good, slowed a little mile 3, then had an extra 2x caffeine gel which helped with a push for the last 3 miles. Last mile and a half felt very good into the finish, overall about :10 per mile slower than last year What would you do differently?: maybe ran mile 3/4 a little harder, had some extra at the finish Post race
Warm down: walked, drank water and gatorade, used towel What limited your ability to perform faster: a little tired or conservative during middle miles of the run Event comments: really enjoyed the venue and the race for the second year in a row. Ranks up there with my favorites. Time of 2:15:50 was an olympic PR though out of the top 3rd for automatically qualifying for next year, I think I qualified 2 weeks ago at New Albany anyway. I was impressed with the quality of the field and competition -- to go 2:15 or so and be only in the top 35% in AG and to be slower than 77 others in AG says a lot. Glad I did this race.
