  • Comments: This race we very well organized, not an easy task with 2500 or more athletes. The commentary during and between the swim starts was entertaining and I really liked the sound effects when each wave got handed over to the starter. The volunteers were excellent and there were plenty of them. Packet pickup and bike check in were very smooth. Oh, and the big screen showing the finishers, that was a nice touch! My only "gripe" was getting something to drink post race. While at the food area at the expo, they said I had to go across the street for drinks. But you had to wait in a long line along with spectators, families, friends etc. to get something. I know there's a lot involved in dealing with dairy products but the first thing I want after a 2+ hour race is chocolate milk. Not a big deal, the race was top notch.

  • Comments: Race was well organized, as it should be expected. Nice race swag and finishers medal. Loved the jacket the participants got. Live streaming and results were cool for those who could not make the trip to WI.

  • Comments: Dream goal was 2:15. As it was, it was a 5 minute bike PR, a 3 minute (I think run PR), and a 10 minute Oly PR, all on the bike and run. I was in the top half, so I achieved my goal of not embarrassing myself or "wasting" a Nationals slot. After the race BTer scoobysdad/Rich came down and shared some of Milwaukee's finest brews. Between getting up at 5 am - or 3 am my time - and racing an Oly, they went straight to my head. But it was a great way to spend a post-race afternoon as we sorta watched the super sprint relay, and just shot the shit. Hung out downtown and met Rusty and his wife for dinner. As much fun as the race was, the afternoon with Rich and dinner with Rusty and Jen were the highlights. Headed back to the Super 8 with Darla the Lyft driver, and packed for a 4:30 am wake up call (or.... 2:30 my time....). Nationals are going to be back in Milwaukee in 2015. I'd definitely go back again, and am going to try to qualify at an honest to god Olympic race.

  • Comments: Without a doubt the best race I've ever done. I was at first a bit nervous simply because there were triple the amount of racers in this than the largest race I've done previously, but the way USAT ran it was perfect. Very organized all-around.

  • Comments: This was a very fun race. Very well organized and lots of volunteers. It has a very good "Big Event" atmosphere, all the people along the swim venue and along the bridge made it fun from the beginning. I thought the course layout was excellent. I will definitely try to get back next year.

  • Comments: everything about this race is top-notch: The town, the venue, the course, the volunteers and spectators, and lots to do both before and after the race. All the vibe and energy of WTC Ironman, but without all the weird "me, me, me" drama that often goes along with it. We will be back!

  • Comments: really enjoyed the venue and the race for the second year in a row. Ranks up there with my favorites. Time of 2:15:50 was an olympic PR though out of the top 3rd for automatically qualifying for next year, I think I qualified 2 weeks ago at New Albany anyway. I was impressed with the quality of the field and competition -- to go 2:15 or so and be only in the top 35% in AG and to be slower than 77 others in AG says a lot. Glad I did this race.

  • Comments: Actually a lot smaller setup / activities than I had expected. Not that small is terrible or anything, just not what I expected. Lots of volunteers and a nice area (road construction aside) to race around.

  • Comments: if I qualify, I'll do this race again. I hope i would qualify earlier so as to not get stuck at the Ramada Inn. that was the last hotel with vacancy and it was kind of dumpy. Also, order an extra large jacket (or larger). I tried on the "large" jacket after the race and it was too small even for my wife who would wear a small. They ought to refund the price of the jacket. I can't comment too much about the post-race activities as I didn't stick around after the race. I was not thrilled with the post-race food that was available and the limited hydration available.

  • Comments: Overall, this was a good race and I did quite well for me. A humbling experience to be sure but it was good to experience my first real National Championships and I'll know where I really have to be if I ever want to really compete and make it to Worlds some day. The course was awesome and if you get the chance to go, do so! USAT did a decent job with the race though I did let them know about what I thought were a few shortfalls. Still plenty of volunteers and race support. Closed bike course is a plus for me. The swim was interesting but really nothing terrible, just different. Milwaukee treated us very well too! I'm afraid I probably won't be back next year before it changes again as I have other priorities. Enjoy if you do! More pics in my USAT AG Nationals 2013 Album if interested.

  • Comments: Awesome race and I'm hoping to get there in 2014. If I can work out GSB and AG Nationals to happen during the same period of time again, I will be all over this race. Really excited about Hy Vee now!

  • Comments: It was fun and humbling to compete at a race of this magnitude. Definitely the truism, that there is always someone faster than you rang true in Milwaukee. Photos #1 Race morning with my neat Yanks tatoo numbers #2 Fri with Chrissie Wellington in the background #3 Start of bike, feet on top of shoes #4 Passing transition for 2nd loop, rough road & poor signage #5 Look for my kit, that's me about 3 back at the end of the run/race

  • Comments: The race started a little late and the men's 40-44 AG got screwed into waiting in the water for an extra 20 minutes. And the awards ceremony was around dinner time and took a long time to get going so I left before getting to see my friend get his award. I was starving. They need to do awards earlier. Other than that it was awesome, probably the most beautiful venue I've ever done.

  • Comments: USAT put on a great event. There were a few issues with the swim waves but couldn't be helped. Everything was first class and the race certainly makes you feel like a rock star. Great venue...plan on returning next year.

  • Comments: What a blast. USAT did a great job with the event, and the City of Milwuakee is a fantastic venue. It was a little bit of a bummer to get held in the water for 15' prior to the start, but that was only a minor glitch in an otherwise stellar experience.

  • Comments: Nationals is awesome. Great experience. Lots of really fast people. It's hard going into a race where you know you don't have a chance to do well. But it was fun racing, and taking the time to see the whole course, not just hammer a result. Best part of the day was getting my medal from Chrissie Wellington. She is awesome. Fun race and would definitely do it again if I qualified. Milwaukee put on a great event and was very happy to be part of it.

  • Comments: Maybe an Olympic PR, great weather, great venue, only 2 complaints - delay at the start and no drink stations near transition, other than that really glad I travelled to and did this race, probably the highest caliber field and largest and most prolific race I've ever done. I think since I finished in the top 33% (32%) that I automatically qualified for next year in my age.

  • Comments: The race was put on well, but it's just hectic with that many people. If it had been warmer, the start would have been a real pain for the later waves. It would have been nice to have more to drink at the finish, but overall, they did a nice job. Not being able to have my transition bag in transition due to security concerns was a pain. I suppose this is the way of the future. I realize what I've been doing with my 910XT, I was going to mulitsport and hitting the start button. I needed to hit the enter button to get to multisport and THEN hit start. I should have checked this before the race but I forgot.
