Total Time = 2h 19m 21s
Overall Rank = 28/453
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 2/12
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 345am, ate a banana, headed out to Rock Hall
Event warmup:

Short walk to the swim start
Swim
  • 21m 40s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

Managed to get to the outside for the swim start which helped tremendously. By the time I got to the first buoy I was comfortably drafting off another swimmer. I was worried about crowding on the second lap but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected.
What would you do differently?:

Sighting is getting better but I can always improve on that.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Struggle-town trying to find the strap for my wetsuit. Had a tough time getting it over my feet too. Suuuuuper slow transition.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transitions.
Bike
  • 1h 08m 6s
  • 24.5 miles
  • 21.59 mile/hr
Comments:

Race website advertised a pancake flat bike. This was definitely not a pancake flat course. I pushed the hills too hard and was definitely feeling it on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Practice hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Almost tanked getting off the bike. Managed to save it and run into transition.
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting off that bike.
Run
  • 46m 3s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Well the pain started about 1.5 miles in. Legs started cramping and I knew I would have to tone it down. First two miles were just under 7min, next two were around 7:20min, last two were around 8min. Not my best run effort but there's no way I was going to get a DNF.
What would you do differently?:

Work on my bike endurance, no way around that.
Post race
Warm down:

Little walking around, sitting in the shade, and lots of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, always.

Event comments:

Setup always puts on great events. Like Maritime though, I was a little surprised at the lack of security around the transition area.
