Swim
Comments: interesting swim layout - they bussed us up the beach to the start and we swam straight along shore to transition. I was a little better about sighting and swimming straight than at Seahorse. didn't catch many drafts - I was kind of in no man's land. What would you do differently?: swim in the bunch more to find some feet. Transition 1
Comments: long run from the beach to transition. took my time. Amy handed off my spare tubes which I had forgotten :-) Bike
Comments: forgot my hrm, so just went by feel and cadence. worked out great. Transition 2
Comments: took my time here too. put on sunscreen, used the porta potty. Run
Comments: was just praying my knee would feel okay. the first four miles went faster than I expected and felt awesome. then my pace started to drop. felt horrible between miles 7-9, then felt better again. walked through every aid station and drank a lot. What would you do differently?: start off more slowly. my pace at first was 8:20/mile, which dropped to ~10/mile by the end. Post race
Warm down: walked around and ate. What limited your ability to perform faster: inexperience pacing at this distance, lack of run training. Event comments: very well run. would do it again. Last updated: 2006-07-23 12:00 AM
