Age Group Rank = 69/150
Pre-race routine:

Toasted Whole Wheat English Muffing at 5:10 with Gatorade. Arrived at 5:45 (had pre-registered). 3rd heat 6:40. Put on wetsuit around 6:20 and swam a bit to warm up. Swam with ear plugs. 1 gu 15 mins before race start.
Swim
  • 12m 23s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Much faster than I had anticpated. Thought I'd come in around 16 mins. Actually passed a bunch of previous heat. Tried to save legs for bike/run. Sighted every 30 strokes or so using occasional breaststroke to sight. Overall really good.
What would you do differently?:

Not much (other than locate my jaw to a place other than where the guy in front of me can kick it as hard as he did...)
Transition 1
  • 03m 54s
Comments:

Pretty good transition. Well organized transition area. Didn't waste too much time. Not too far of a run from water to bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 46m 47s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike ride for me. Shaved about six minutes off practice ride. It's nice to have all of those policemen out there waving me through the intersections/red lights!
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Felt good.
Transition 2
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

Definitely slower than I thought but may have helped me in the run to get a bit of a break.
What would you do differently?:

Could have gone faster perhaps but felt good going into run.
Run
  • 21m 59s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was much faster than I had anticipated. Could have even been faster if there were mile markers (would have kicked it in sooner).
What would you do differently?:

Not much. All good for the most part.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked on beach. Hugged family, etc. Drank lots of gatroade and water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I definitely tried to hold back a bit. This was my first race so I wasn't really sure what I had.

Event comments:

Tough to really rank. This was my first one.
