Swim
Comments: Ran into the back of the prior heat about 200m into race. Very difficult time sighting and seeing other swimmers. Because of this, I had a very difficult time finding a clear way through the pack. Time includes the long run up a hill from the beach to the transition area. Transition 1
Comments: Running in my cycling shoes was difficult and ended up costing me some time. Still my fastest T1 to date. Bike
Comments: Definitely felt faster than the official results states (average only 17.74mi). That said, the course definitely felt longer than the advertised 20km (my Garmin was closer to 23.5km), which would bring my average speed much closer to what I expected. Transition 2
Comments: Decided to unclip from pedals when I saw how narrow the path to transition entrance was... glad I did since there was a sharp turn at the very end. Lost a bit of time when I couldn't find my transition spot, and spent more time than I wanted putting my shoes on. Went sockless since everything was too wet from the rain. Run
Comments: Since I didn't put socks on in T2, I had some discomfort from a few existing blisters. Legs were tired from running the Boy Scout Half Marathon in Bowling Green the prior morning. Felt better than I did in my first triathlon a few months ago. Post race
Event comments: Start was delayed by 20-30 minutes due to rain. Overall, I can't complain much as things went pretty smoothly. If I could suggest one change, it would be to reorganize the transition area so the bike entrance isn't so narrow and to eliminate the sharp turn before the dismount line. In the water was warmer than out; spent 10-15 minutes getting acclimated to the water and practicing sighting in the rain.
