  • Comments: This is, and continues to be, a very large race/series compared to some of the smaller events I do each summer, but it was much better organized and coordinated than my previous experience in 2012. The only thing that kept the events from going off on time was the weather. I like this race because the ride is fast without being dangerous (no ridiculous descents) and I seem to do well on the run course.

  • Comments: Start was delayed by 20-30 minutes due to rain. Overall, I can't complain much as things went pretty smoothly. If I could suggest one change, it would be to reorganize the transition area so the bike entrance isn't so narrow and to eliminate the sharp turn before the dismount line.

  • Comments: The lines at 7am were CRAZY - there didn't seem to be enough volunteers for this race and the ones that were at transition entrance didn't have a clue. There was only one sign for bike rack assignments at entrance and lead to lots of confusion in transition area. I helped over 5 people (mostly newbies) find out where to rack their bikes. Registration line at 7am had almost a hundred peple in it. Race was suppose to start at 8am. People doing chips and numbering were really slow because 2 or 3 people trying to do it all for 600 people. Race started late but it was due to the fact there were so many Girls Tri Too exhibitors. They do a timed trial start so I didn't have a problem with the late start of the waves. It was worth it to cheer on many of the ladies who it was their first tri - it's how I started last year!!!

  • Comments: HFP generally runs a tight ship - it seemed as though there were way more athletes than they were prepared to handle. If this race is an indication of how it goes every year, I would not recommend as a first-time experience. For repeat offenders like me, it's a nice, fast, slightly longer-than-average course. Just be sure to show up early.

  • Comments: Good race, swim slowed me down. Setting my expectations high but just don't have the lung capacity yet to meet them. I will not lower them though.
