REVOLUTION3 Triathlon
72F / 22C
Sunny
Total Time = 5h 46m 33s
Overall Rank = 124/447
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 11/25
Pre-race routine:

A little different today packing up the RV and moving it across the park. Still kept the same breakfast of beets and coffee though!
Event warmup:

Just a quick run and a little splashing around in the water since there was no taking bikes out of transition.
Swim
  • 41m 30s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

So incredibly wavy. Was unable to really get into a swimming rhythm. Had trouble sighting; had to actually stop every time I wanted to sight. Just awful.
What would you do differently?:

Not let it get to me as much mentally and maybe I could have done a little bit better, but I was just having such a hard time!
Transition 1
  • 03m 20s
Bike
  • 2h 58m 26s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.83 mile/hr
Comments:

Went out a bit too hard (21.4mph) and just couldn't sustain that on the roads and wind on the way back. Very happy with overall ride though; wasn't expecting to be under 3 hours.
What would you do differently?:

Try to stay in my bubble a bit more.
Transition 2
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

First running dismount w/o shoes and I nailed it! Shoes didn't even bounce while running to the rack!
Run
  • 2h 01m 12s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Not too happy with the run... I just couldn't keep running; a totally mental issue for the most part and that's what was killing me. Seeing a whole lot of other people walking didn't help. If I could have kept running, I would have most likely hit my goal. Grr.
What would you do differently?:

Be more mentally tough. I gave in to the suck too easily. So upset.
Post race
Warm down:

LOTS of fluid.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Waves. Mentality on the run.

Event comments:

Course 'too hard' because of the very rough waters and the 'hills.' Not very big hills, but just so hard to train for them on the flat stuff out here. Oh well, I did very well on the bike!
