Swim
Comments: Too much zig zagging on my part. What would you do differently?: Sight better. Transition 1
Comments: Took time in T1. Wanted to make sure feet were dry good before putting on socks. Changed from swim suit to Tir suit. Put cream on to prevent chaffing on bike. What would you do differently?: I think I would wear Tri suit on swim next time if it was that warm again. Speed up a little but I knew it was going to be a long day. Bike
Comments: I stopped twice on the ride. The first stop was to use porta potty and I didnt know there was a line until I stopped. I stayed in the line just to talk to someone because I was so bored. The second stop was at special needs station. My time could have been better if not for the stops but no complaints. I did not like all the drafting that was taking place. Had obvious drafting on my rear wheel. What would you do differently?: Use the woods instead of porta potty. Transition 2
Comments: Changed socks and put on running shoes. Drank fluids and sat down for a few minutes. Put all my items in bag and took off for run. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: My plan was to run to every aid station and then walk as i ate/drink. I felt a lot better than I did in the Lousiville run. My stomach felt good and I saw my family as I started the run. Stopped and kissed wife and told her I felt good. The plan was working good until about mile 19. I was getting tired and the walking at the aid stations started going longer. A great guy (Michael) asked me if I wanted to run with him and he was doing a run .5 and walk .1. I agreed and this worked great and had strong finish. What would you do differently?: Nothing..This is my last IM. Going back to short races and HIM. Built for speed. :) Post race
Warm down: Hugged my wife and told her I was ready to go. She had all my gear and bike already packed. God love her and thanks for the buddy pass. Took shower and ate two slices of pizza. Went to sleep at 9:30. What limited your ability to perform faster: My stomach was a little sick on the last five miles. Maybe too much coke. Event comments: Great race and volunteers. Highly recommend this race to anyone looking to do a IM or HIM type race. The city is great with good activities for family. Last updated: 2014-10-30 12:00 AM
