Pre-race routine:

I wasn't real nervous going into this one, as it was my first half and really didn't know what to expect; just going to make the distance. Had a bowl of cereal and banana for breakfast.
Event warmup:

Only stretched for a warmup. Prepped my transition area before they kicked us out at 6:20am.
Swim
  • 39m 23s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt good on this swim, very pleased with my time...some terrific competition in this race.
What would you do differently?:

Not get ready quite so fast. I was waiting at least 30min to get in the water.
Transition 1
  • 04m 11s
Comments:

The transition are was very large, so finding my spot was temporally equivalent to a normal full transition. Forgot my towel and had some trouble with the jersey, shoes and gloves. Eventually just tried to be smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Remember the towel
Bike
  • 2h 51m 26s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.60 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike is my weakest event, but I was very pleased this time around. For the distance, I was almost 20min faster than my goal. Plus I had to stop and relieve myself at a portajohn at about halfway...good times.
What would you do differently?:

Don't try to eat a salt pill if the capsule is slightly dissolved...bad idea!
Transition 2
  • 02m 46s
Comments:

Sorta took my sweet time on this transition to rest a little, but it was worth it. Sat down and tied my shoes and took some gu.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 1h 46m 41s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a great run, all things considered. The run is my strength, but my longest training run had been 11mi. After I warmed up to running, I wanted to go fast, but had to hold back not wanting to burn out. In the end, I think I did most things right and was very happy with the time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and ate a ton of pizza.

Event comments:

Terrific race, the best organized I've seen. More than enough volunteers and drink stations. Tons of spectator support.
Race started a little late due to a traffic accident, but that can't be helped.
Post race had tons of food and drink.
