Run
Comments: Went out with my goal pace for a sub 4:00 and felt really good through about 16 miles, (was on a low 8:00 min per mile pace) started to feel tight hamstring which faded around mile19, but, then started to get calf cramps and had to slow, started walking each water stop, miles 20-24 were tough, a second wind going into Central Park and got back to some pace for the last 1.5 miles, What would you do differently?: Really need more longer runs before running a marathon, had been doing triathlons all summer and only really started raising mileage in September. Not enough long runs and got the same calf cramp problem as in the past - about mile 20, Post race
Warm down: They make you walk 1 mile to get through the shute and to an exit. Then another mile or so back to get to family reunion or meet up. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need more long training runs, slow the first half pace Event comments: This is the one marathon to do - extremely well organized for such a large run and the volunteers and safety personnel couldn't have been nicer, just an all around great experience and cheering, energized, crowds like you will not see anywhere else. Was fortunate to be able to stay on Staten Island and got dropped at the bridge right at 8:30am. Really no stress getting there.
No warm up. Had a first wave start and early corral and my corral was closing just as I found it. Had to run to get there before it closed.
