Swim
Comments: BAD, BAD, BAD! Not much more to say. I was embarrassed. Ended up breast stroking most of it. Almost quit with 25 yds to go. Sun was in our eyes coming home and we could not see the finish. Everyone said the swim was rough. I had no rythum (sp). I had trouble breathing and got tired immediately. Had no strength to transition. What would you do differently?: 1. Warm up! 2. Be better prepared physically and mentally. 3. Start on the outside so not getting kicked and swam over by everyone. 4. Get a rythum. Breath better and overhand crawl more. 5. Use legs less. 6. Save something for the transition. Transition 1
Comments: Not good either. I was so tired that I wasted alot of time. Bystanders had kicked all my stuff around. The biggest problem was that I was so tired from the swim that I walked the transition. What would you do differently?: 1. Swim better so not so tired after for transition. 2. Practice transitions. 3. Practice getting in shoes while on bike. 4. Run from swim to bike area. Rest after on bike. 5. Try riding with out socks on. 6. Ride without gloves. Bike
Comments: My best event by far. Even did better than I thought I would. Could have pushed it a little harder especially on the hills. Overall, I was fairly pleased with the bike. What would you do differently?: 1. Push even harder, especially on hills. 2. Check out the course before race morning. 3. Practice without gloves. 4. Practice start with shoes attached to bike. Transition 2
Comments: Not good either. Took forever to get shoes on and could not find hat after by standers kicked it around. Basically not prepared. What would you do differently?: 1. Come in with feet out of shoes. 2. Quicker overall execution. 3. Try to run with no socks. 4. No gloves. 5. Either no hat or have better prepared. Run
Comments: Not good either. Right leg locked up on me right away from my back injury. That is my excuse, even though I had no gas left anyway. I walked alot. What would you do differently?: 1. Be better prepared mentally and phisically. 2. Tough it out, it's only 3 miles! 3. Get a good slower pace going if needed, just stay running. Post race
Warm down: A little stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Only training 2 1/2 weeks. No confidence in swim or run. No practice on transitions. No preparations. No water on bike. No warm up. Bad angles on swim. No guts. Event comments: Good overall organization and admin. Did not like swimming into sun at finish. Thought the judge handed out too many penalties (especially to a 12 year old boy!). He could have warned people first (I did not get one). Last updated: 2006-08-15 12:00 AM

Drove over 1 hour to the race. First one in over 5 years so was very nervous a little disoriented. Not much of a routine.
No warm up! Big mistake. When I hit the water I was in trouble from the start.
