Pre-race routine:

Drove from home about 1.5 hours.....left at about 4:45am. Arrived and had trouble finding the registration area. Took my time setting up my transition area and went to inspect the swim starting area.
Event warmup:

Stretched and jogged out of the bike transition to get a feel for the exit area. Went to the swim start for the pre-race meeting.

Comments:

Executed my race plan for the swim. Stayed to the outside and took a wide arc around bouy's. Very little contact (elbows, kicking) from others. Swim was very enjoyable.

Not much at all.

What would you do differently?:

Next time I would lose the shirt as there are numbers on the bike. Spent too much time putting shirt on.

My transition area was furthest from the bike end. Seemed to go well, but time tells the truth. I am OK with any transition under 1min.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure....maybe I need to practice this transition. I was 7/11 in the age group here.

Executed well here. My target was to run 7:30min per mile.
What would you do differently?:

Not much except really push with about 0.5 miles to go. I tried to catch the guy in front of me, but couldnt make up the 5 secs.

Warm down:

Walked and drank H20.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike speed was good for me, but looks like I need to improve in this area to keep up with the field.

Event comments:

Really had a good time at this race. My guess is that this race will grow in popularity. I will register again for this one next year as a "B" race.

First time on the AG podium (3rd place) so I am very pleased with my performance.
