Swim
Comments: Smooth, solid swim for me. Swimming in Blue Lake so much gives me an advantage. I'm always seeing weird stuff along the bottom. This lake was shallow but I was never startled by the sudden appearance of rocks. plants, etc. I was surprised to see so many people backstroking and even a few snorkles. What would you do differently?: Nothing, well maybe pushed harder towards the end. Transition 1
Comments: Need to speed it up! Bike
Comments: Loved the bike as usual. I rode well--loved the climbing portions. I really feel that's a strength as I'll pass people laboring and breathing heavy and I just kind of zip by breathing quietly. I did have a weird few seconds when I leaned into my aero mounted water bottle to get a drink and the straw got caught in an air vent in my helmet and I was stuck like that for about 5 seconds! When I finally got unstuck I had a good chuckle to myself! What would you do differently?: Nothing, pleased with my bike Transition 2
Comments: Went smoothly What would you do differently?: Be faster Run
Comments: Uuughhh...struggled on this run. To be fair, it was 90+ degrees by the time I got on the run. My heart rate spiked as I started out too hard and just couldn't get it to slow down. I never walked, just death shuffled--especially the last two miles. It was harder than it should have been! The best part about the run was two kids with water guns that sprayed the heck out me around mile 3.5! What would you do differently?: Started slower--I know this! I always feel better when I get 10-12 minutes into the run, I needed to be patient. I will work on this for my next race. Post race
Warm down: Immediately found some shade. My lovely daughter took off my socks and shoes and my feet went immediately into cramp mode. It was while I was laying there that I heard my name called--I had placed 2nd in my age group out of 2--LOL! Oh well, still faster than all the other middle aged ladies sitting on their butts! What limited your ability to perform faster: My inability to perform faster! Event comments: The race itself was fine. The athlete briefing should have been done earlier. We had to walk a mile to the start and the briefing got over around 7:45am and our swim started at 8am. As we were walking a race guy came by on a bike yelling at us to hurry up--well, geez, then hold the briefing earlier! Last updated: 2016-06-07 12:00 AM

The usual checking and double checking of my transition set up. Walking around and drooling over some bikes, several porta-potty stops, and a triple check of transition.
About a one mile walk to swim start. A few minutes into the walk I realized I forgot my cap and goggles, ran back and got them. That was my warmup!
