Swim
Comments: The toughest part of the swim was swimming into the blinding sun at the turnaround. Even my transition lenses in my goggles did not give me relief. What would you do differently?: Different lenses, study the course more prior. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time to get SPF sleeves and sun screen on. I'm a ginger. What would you do differently?: Keep moving. Bike
Comments: Threw a chain once before a big hill. What would you do differently?: Train hills a little more and more rides on the trainer. Transition 2
Comments: Still slow, but applied another round of sunblock. What would you do differently?: Keep moving. Run
Comments: The bike course left me tired, so I didn't feel 100% on the run. What would you do differently?: Drink electrolytes earlier on. Started to fade a bit. Post race
Warm down: Massage after jumping in the ocean to cool off. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of hill training. But mostly training in the winter months was much harder than I thought. I was much more tired in the Ams compared to my previous race in July. Event comments: This was a great race! The bike course on Pendleton was challenging but scenic. The run was very scenic and the crowd was great. Definitely one of the best finish lines in the 70.3 circuit.
