Comments: I realized that my Garmin Vector 2 pedals when I'm in high gear (which I don't do in training) the connector for the antenna pod was too close to the chain. On a downhill I felt something odd with my pedal. I looked down as saw that the connector had popped out but had not broken off. One more revolution of the pedals and I would have lost it. I stopped to plug it back in and the pedals had to go through the entire setup sequence. To get this to work right, I had to stop stop AGAIN for them to connector properly to my 920XT. This wasted a few minutes and about 20-30 people I had just past went by me. when I started back up, I had to re-pass all the same people. This wasted both time and energy. Even with this, I had my second fastest HIM bike split. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I carried my own Gatorade endurance and water with electrolyte. I drank a few sips every few minutes. All told I drank about 60 oz of fluid. This worked out well, as this was probably the least dehydrated I've been in an HIM, and I think my 3rd fastest bike of any distance. Trainerroad has really helped my biking. With the reduced running, I still was only 7 seconds per mile slower than last year. What would you do differently?: Having knee surgery last December really force me to scale back my running to about 40% of what I did the previous year. Post race
