Swim
Comments: Sheesh. Guys. This was my best O'side swim, and I nailed a few things, like buoys. This was the second rolling start at O'side, and I saw last year that people way over optimistically seed themselves. At the corral you could see people having second thoughts, and I found myself standing next to the vol with the 35 sign. I finished at 37, and it looks like not one guy passed me. A few women did - yes, guys think they're a lot better than they are ;) The Strava flyby shows that I passed about 1/3 of the field after the turn. The wall of people wasn't nearly as bad as last year, but I still could have started a lot sooner. It was an advantage to know the course since there was blinding sun back into the harbor. Yes, it also sucked that WTC cancelled the surf start. I used two caps, and was just fine. Transition 1
Comments: It was a solid T1, like usual for me. Bike
Comments: Slow. Since I was only in shape for the swim, I took it really easy on the bike and run. Pros: fig bars worked great like always. The weather was great. Shoe covers worked well. The sun screen wipes were great. Cons: I forgot to put sunscreen on my neck! Transition 2
Comments: T2 was okay. I clipped my hat to the run belt, grabbed it and went. Run
Comments: Slowest ever :) I took it easy, and finished in good shape. Despite being a lot slower this year, I ran the whole way, and didn't walk any hills like I did last year. It was fun to have the tri club tents where we passed them a few times. Post race
Warm down: Here are the results Event comments: As always, the organizers and vols are terrific. The weather was magical, cool and sunny on the bike, slight overcast on the run. I would have loved a beach start. Maybe next year. Last updated: 2017-12-18 12:00 AM

10 hours of sleep! I saw Dana, ate at Robertos, went to the room, and had the best sleep ever.
It was otherwise a standard pre-race routine.
