Swim
Comments: I had contemplated not wearing my wetsuit since the swim was so short and it was so hot out. I wore it anyway and was so glad I did. The weeds in the lake were really thick and the water was very dirty. I had a pretty clear swim and I felt good. This leads me to believe that the swim was a tad longer than it has been in the past. What would you do differently?: Nothing at all. Transition 1
Comments: I did not wear socks for the bike and that worked out very well. Bike
Comments: There was a major accident on the first overpass. The guy had a solid disc wheel. I don't really know what happened but the ambulance was there. I was expecting the wind to be in my face for the second half but it wasn't so that was good. Consumed on the bike: 2 leftover Clif Bloks from a previous bike ride and one GU towards the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Put socks on for the run and a visor because it was so hot and sunny. Run
Comments: I saw Bob R. walking before I got to the turnaround. I assumed it was because there was a water stop on his side of the road. I was trying to figure out how far ahead he was and was so surprised to round the corner and see the turnaround. It was much sooner than it has been in the past. I eventually caught Bob at that flat part in the first mile. He was walking (again). Post race
Warm down: I felt like I had a really good race. Bob finished shortly behind me. We headed over to the transition area where we ran into Linda. She had finished the aquabike was getting ready to head home. We were able to take some photos before she left. We headed back to the awards area for some food. I had two of those hoagie pieces and they hit the spot. They also had fruit, donuts, soft pretzels and egg/cheese sandwiches. The very best part of the race was when they called my name for the Rudy Project giveaway! And winning my age group was fun, too! Event comments: No complaints about this race. Good organization. Tasty food at the end. Great raffles if you can snag one. Prompt awards! Chuck Sellers does a good job. Last updated: 2018-05-29 12:00 AM

This is the most relaxed I've ever been in a race. I'm guessing it's because I was so stressed out in Oceanside, CA that it made this one seem so easy.
Enjoyed myself chatting with everyone. I talked to Lysa, my rack buddy from the last several years.
