Swim
Comments: Started a little too fast, same as last time, and got bumped around a bit, but managed to calm down once I found my space. 5 seconds better than last year. Transition 1
Comments: Took a while to find the zipper on my suit and to clip my shoes on my pedal but other than that, it went well. 5 seconds better than last year Bike
Comments: Practiced the course in the same weather conditions last week (tailwind on the 1st 10k, into the wind on the way back.) Didn’t push too much on the way out this time (thank you Scott) and was able to do the 2nd 10k at a reasonable speed, keeping some strength for the run. 10secs slower than last year What would you do differently?: Nothing. Except train more Transition 2
Comments: A good T2. 10 secs better than last year Run
Comments: The run is where I improved the most in the last year. 3 and a half minutes faster than last year. Had ran the course a couple of times and knew that the first half was basically all uphill and the 2nd half all downhill so I knew if I saved some juice for the 2nd half, I could finish very fast. Which I did and the girl who came second, despite doing the run almost 2 minutes faster could not catch up. Post race
Event comments: Looking at split times, the girl who came second had a slightly slower swim (26sec) , and slightly faster bike (34sec) but a much faster run. I won this on transitions really, she had a total of 4:28 min vs my 1:53. A small, well organized village race. Looking forward to defending my title next year. Last updated: 2018-08-26 12:00 AM

My home race. The one I have been training for the whole year. The one I said I would win, after having my best race ever last year and coming 4th.
Got up at 7 and took a walk to the site to pick up my starting kit, walkd back home, had breakfast and came back to the venue at 9, one hour before start. Checked in my bike (I got the best spot, having been the first to sign up for the race)
Light stretching, 5 minutes swim
