Pre-race routine:

Linda picked me up at 5:15 and we arrived at 6:18. We passed Bob on the Walt Whitman bridge and he followed us for awhile.

Linda's sister-in-law, Danielle, and her two friends were all doing their first tri. It for lots of entertainment, especially when Paris put her wetsuit on backwards.

While we were waiting for the start, Andrew surprised us by showing up to cheer us on.

Event warmup:

Chatted with Lysa, my rack buddy again. I see her every year.

I also chatted with Rhonda.

We were in wave 5 with the relays.
Transition 1

Comments:

I did not wear socks for the bike and that worked out very well.

  • 18.63 mile/hr
Comments:

The wind was in our face on the way out; nice tailwind after the turnaround.

Stacey passed me on the bike right where I thought she would. I was going about 19 mph at that point and she passed me like I was standing still.

Consumed on the bike: one GU towards the end.

Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Put socks on for the run and a visor because it was sunny.
Run
  • 26m 56s
  • 3.1 miles

Comments:

Really nice run. The weather was perfect--not too hot and not humid. I felt good the whole way. I just can't run any faster than I did.

Post race
Warm down:

I went straight to transition after finishing. I wanted to pick up my phone and a bag. I saw Danielle and Sue in transition. At first, I thought they beat me. Then I realized that they hadn't started the run yet. I yelled some encouragement to them.

I had 3 pieces of the hoagie this year. For some reason, I was really hungry.

I talked some more with Rhonda at the award ceremony. She said that I was lucky that I was flat chested and that she was jealous. Seriously? No one has EVER said that to me before. (Not to mention that I prefer to be called small busted.)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm not getting any younger!

Event comments:

This race is always so much fun!
