Run
Comments: Man, 26.2 miles just kicked my butt. I started out just how I wanted to and felt really good until about mile 11. After that it just got worse. I was mentally ok...kinda...but it was just hard. Started walking the aid stations until I got to about mile 15 and then I started walking at least once in between and in addition to the aid stations. By mile 17 or so I started getting cramps in both quads. That forced me to walk until they went away. they'd only stay away for about 1/2 mile at a time. So, that means I was walking a good chunk. I glanced at my watch a couple times and my mile averages were in the 13:00-13:30 range What would you do differently?: Even with all the training, these long races just kill me. A good friend thinks its my shitty nutrition. I'll have to agree I guess. I put in all the hours and almost never skip a workout. I think I skipped 1 on purpose in the last 4 months and I never missed one. Post race
Warm down: Stretched after getting my medal near a bench. Sat down for a few minutes and went pee in a porta potty that was close. Made sure to enjoy myself before heading into the building to get food and stuff because I knew I couldn't go back to the benches. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition? Event comments: A good race was put on, I just didn't perform well. Last updated: 2020-03-02 12:00 AM
