Swim
Comments: Beautiful spot- I just can't swim .People could dog paddle & swim faster than me. Don't like wetsuits either. So there. What would you do differently?: Everything..but I actually enjoyed myself- just swam ..little of this , little of that cruisin..sky was gorgeous-water was warm..stayed out of people's way..didn't swallow too much ocean and my nausea subsided amazingly..so it was all good. Transition 1
Comments: Had to sit down to get wetsuit over heel , plus just get so dizzy after swimming I might hurt myself if I fall over! LOL What would you do differently?: Wasn't organized.. Should have set up better-rehearsed..I could be a whole lot faster...feet wet & sandy..forgot gel..not enough body glide.. Bike
Comments: Took it "reasonable- " went into race with hammy sore & 800 of advil..by second loop was pretty uncomfortable but was into it & having fun-(seeing if I could "reel " people in ..one at a time.!)...able to block discomfort out..kept changing position-focus on the beauty of the course the breezy summerlike day..being out there enjoying!Doesn't get much better than this!Just before the last 1/2 mi biker about 50yds in front of me got hit by a car..hard to watch..upsetting..but fortunately happened right in front of cop & ambulance was a stone's throw away so felt situation under control & didn't dismount..scary tho. What would you do differently?: like this race -would have enjoyed going all out-but knew wouldn't be a smart move if I wanted to finish the race. Transition 2
Comments: again- not particularly swift or organized-but ok Run
Comments: Again, just started off comfortable - a bit tentative due to hammy..after hit 2 miles started to relax & feel like I would be ok so picked up a little-I like out & back-seeing people the other direction go from serious to smiling.. Really enjoyed the last mile along the shore and the finish hill (Thanks C2!) and Capt'n at the Finish ..YEAH!!! What would you do differently?: Just go for it- damn the hammy! LOL Post race
Warm down: Enjoyed Captain Jack & C2's company-gotta love those BT Hugs! walked around a bit..then to the car for water & advil & ice...little stretching..hung out for a few bites of BBQ and a cold beah..and the awards. Came home with a cool transition pack & towel- :)..wasn't timing or anything so cool to actually place in AG..never expected that. What limited your ability to perform faster: Focus couldn't be on all out PB- too much risk of injury going into race with hammy in the state it was in- race was about enjoying a most excellent day & company & having a BLAST!! Event comments: Only suggestion for this race is a bit better traffic control, bike rule enforcement, mile markers. It's a beautiful venue and well run..and for a good cause. This was a sweet season finale race for me- a perfect day and great company..It is all good and yes, well deserving of a Happy Dance for sure! Woke up nauseous after minimal sleep -tried to choke down "usual" yogurt & bluberries w/opt power..but instead had to eat small bites of cinnamon raisin toast-1 slice was it, with a few sips of bad coffee..hoped last night's dinner & ice cream is enough calories !
none- got to site late-had to walk from distant lot, back tire was flat..MAJOT BT HUG to Captain Jack Sparrow who with lightening speed took care of THAT problem!! Hustled to registration..little confusion with lost chips & # changes ..body marked & dashed back to FAR end of transition to set up- quickly- and get back to the beach..only to find out in last wave...
