Bike
Comments: I had a feeling that this would be the event in which I would comparatively do worse than the others. I just did not spend enough time on the bike training. I had some comfort issues which I cannot explain and twice I had to stop and go back to pick up dropped bottles, both times due to broken water bottle cages. I have had issues with mounting cages on my back of the seat cage mount system. I finally found some cages that mounted easily, but apparently that are not durable at all and chose race day to fall apart. On the second drop, I lost a full bottle of my nutrition, so I had to adjust after that. What would you do differently?: More time training on the bike and only used fully tested cages. Apply sunscreen. Transition 2
Comments: Bathroom stop on the way out of the transition. Run
Comments: I was tempted to push a little harder on the run, but held back until the last two miles. Glad I did, as I had little left in the tank at the end. I wish I would have had some sunscreen. Post race
Warm down: Minimal stretching; 32 oz Recoverite; lounging. Event comments: Nice event and would like to do it again. This was my first HIM (had not done anything longer than a sprint) and I am fairly pleased with my results. Last updated: 2006-09-21 12:00 AM
