Pre-race routine:

Painted toe nails red (the fastest).
Parked in Magic Kingdom parking lot and took monorail to Contemporary for Expo on Saturday. There was no wait as it was 5pm and most people had already left. We did have to walk thru a huge line of TNT people making a racket for their pasta party and the volunteers could not hear us asking which way to go. I too have a lot of respect for TNT but they could not have been more annoying at this race. I didn't appreciate the spectators cheering TNT people only and ignoring everyone else who went by, nor did I appreciate the 2 times TNT couches shoved their way past me to go and assist athletes DURING the race (isn't handing an athlete water bottles and taking things from them to hold until the end cheating?)! After the expo returned to parking lot to get bike, put it on shuttle and went over to campground. Took ferry from campground to Magic Kingdom until closing time. I guess because I do ALL the Disney races I was not surprised about the shuttle/no parking situation.
Event warmup:

Nothing special. Didn't eat anything before race as my stomach is testy and would not have been happy. And, as this was my 1st tri, I was especially nervous! Luckily I didn't have to wait long because my wave was huge and we went out 5th.
Swim
  • 42m 35s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 36s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my 1st ever OWS with a crowd! :) I am just happy I didn't drown and didn't get beat up too bad.
What would you do differently?:

I didn't know how hard it would be to just get going with all those people. It took a long time to find enough space to actually swim. I have to work on my swimming, WAY too slow, my wave left me in the dust!
Transition 1
  • 04m 25s
Comments:

I was trying to slam some Marathon bar during this transition as it was the only nutrition I planned on for the whole race. That took a bit of time but I didn't care. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 02m 23s
  • 20.2 miles
  • 19.43 mile/hr
Comments:

Had I realized the course was short I would have pushed harder on the bike. I was shocked when we turned back into the campground but as my Garmin died a week ago I had no idea pace or distance.
What would you do differently?:

Get a Garmin 305 :)
Transition 2
  • 03m 8s
Comments:

I was happy overall with this transition since I stopped to use the bathroom! :)
What would you do differently?:

Probably add Yanks to my shoes
Run
  • 50m 34s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I run in the heat all the time and I kicked butt on the run!
I probably would have done worse had my Garmin not died and I was watching the pace. The spectators/volunteers were giving incorrect info about the distance to the finish but if you knew the course (I have run it 100 times), you knew they were wrong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, the run rocked!
Post race
Warm down:

I was totally thrilled to finish my 1st Triathlon and thrilled to have finished my goal of doing all the races in the Disney Endurance series (5K, 10K, 15K, 1/2 Marathon, Marathon, 1/2 Inline, Full Inline, and now Triathlon!) I drank a ton of water, an orange Fanta, and went to Mitsukoshi in Japan at Epcot for lunch! :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I swim wicked slow... I know what I will be doing this winter :)

Event comments:

Although the organization was a mess, I was so excited to do my 1st Tri I barely noticed and I had a GREAT time. My race effort was average (probably because I swim so darn slow) so I can certainly pick up the pace next time! :)

Course: The bike course though poorly marked was flat and fast (except for the speed bumps!). The wind was not bad at all. In and out of the campground was congested and I was very worried about a draft penalty as we were so crowded! However, I felt VERY good on the bike and it was an excellent ride for me. As mentioned before, I also witnessed whole packs of people drafting on the course and unfortunately saw the ambulance assisting the athletes hit by a car (not sure of details but looks as if they crashed into each other then fell into the traffic lane).
