  • Comments: I had a great time. Rowena is gearing up for next years race so I'm looking forward to training with her. Excited about the results since I was having fun the whole time (minus the first 100 on the swim). Didn't notice any of the problems people complained about last year but I had used their comments to help make my race better so thanks to all of those who endured not so fun races that made mine fun. Oh yea, Disney World with the kids for the first time was awesome! Some of the biggest smiles i've ever seen and that was from all of us. Me, Rowena, Madeline, Gracie, Christopher, and Silly Grandma.

  • Comments: The only negative thing I can say about this race is that the aid stations on the run only had cold Poweraid, the water was warm (air temp). This won't be a factor next year as I plan on having plenty of my own fluids during the run. Overall, I really liked this race and race course. The swim course was easy to navigate, the water didn't taste like diesel, the staging was managed well. The run from the water to the bike transition was pretty nice with the carpet. The path was narrow but I didn't have any problems passing other racers. The transition area was managed very well and the volunteers helped out a lot. The bike course was awesome. Too bad I can't ride that route regularly. I'm curious about the "No Passing Zone" signs. This was not explained at the pre-race course meeting during the expo on Saturday. Lastly, the run course was nicely done. I know I'm going to sign up for next year so save me a spot. Here are my official results from the Disney Triathlon held on

  • Comments: Ok... 1. Logistically this was inconvenient. The registration should have been at the race site. You had to rely on busses or other forms of Disney transportation to get to places. 2. The people at registration did not seem trained. When I got the final instructions, my wave (athena) was not listed. I figured I was starting with my age group, but nobody could tell me if I was then competing as AG or if I was still competing as Athena. They also just handed my the wristband and did not put it on. I thought the idea of the wristbands were to insure that only the registered athlete goes into transition. 3. They changed the start times about 3 times including (i think) right before the race. I had no idea when I was starting 4. 2-way traffic on the bike. DANGEROUS 5. No marshalls anywhere on the course. Sure, I could have drafted too but I know that my times are legitimate, without help. 6. Could have been one more aid station on the run So, aside from that,

  • Comments: I was happy for the sub-3 hour, as that was my goal. But, for this to be a Disney production, I was disappointed. The pre-race expo/packet pick-up was nothing to write home about. In my opinion, the Peachtree City Tri had a better expo. The transportation was terrible! We had to park in one parking lot, then wait for a bus, which took only 4-8 bikes at a time, over to the transition area. Just dropping off my bike the day before was a 2 hour ordeal. Then after the race, the line for the buses extended almost all the way across the Epcot Imagine parking lot. The wait was almost 40min to catch a bus back to the transition area. After I picked up my bike, it was going to be another wait to catch a bus to the participant parking lot at the Magic Kingdom. I, like the majority, decided to ride my bike back to the parking lot. The only time Disney got the transportation right was race morning. The medal was cool, but short bike course, lack of aid stations and frustrating transportation

  • Comments: Short bike course and long distance from swim to T1. Also the shuttle busses were awful. I would love to know where the event money went.

  • Comments: Ok, so I learned my lesson, don't think a race will be great just because the backer is a good name. This was the worst run race I have ever done. Atleast have the distances right!!!!! I traveled 18 hours for a big disappointment. If anyone thought this was a good race, come up to NY sometime and do any race in the finger lake triathlon series. The races up here are so much better run and they actually have the right distances.

  • Comments: This was my first Tri ever. I am dissapointed in my swim and run but that is my fault for not practicing OWS and more bricks. I am very proud that I pushed throught the swim after panicing as bad as I did. The bike and run were good but I could have done better. I have done the Disney Marathon and this Disney Event doesn't even compare in term of atmosphere. I am glad I did this race becuase I plan on doing the FL 70.3 in may and the swim is in the same place so I know what to expect. I am definitly going to do more OWS to try to get comfortable in Open water and be able to keep my barrings and also do some bricks. Now that my first tri is under my belt, it is time to focus on FL 70.3 for the next 8 months and also look toward doing a lot better in this event next year.

  • Comments: Terribly organized event from the package pick up at the Contemporary, to the bike drop off at Fort Wilderness, the short distances, lack of water stations, crappy post race, etc, etc, etc. Don't ever do this race. I spent several hours between the packet pick up and dropping my bike off at the transition area. There is no parking at the event sites so everyone is bussed.

  • Comments: This is only my second triathlon, but I have been to enough events to know this was poorly done. All the bussing, poor course, and poor general organization made this a bit of a hassel. I enjoyed my first local tri so much more, I hope all big races aren't like this. I am going to do the Florida Challange half IM next month and I am expecting much more from that one. With all the money this race costs and the disney name, I think Walt would be disapointed. You really don't even see much of Disney, we did see chip and dale, but that was all the characters there were. The nicest thing about the race was the participants and thier positive additude though the entire race. Also the support staff taking care of the injured.

  • Comments: Although the organization was a mess, I was so excited to do my 1st Tri I barely noticed and I had a GREAT time. My race effort was average (probably because I swim so darn slow) so I can certainly pick up the pace next time! :)

  • Comments: Walt Disney should be rolling over in his grave. This was the least organized race I have ever done. They changed the swim start 3 times. They did not have enough volunteers. They were SELLING water at the start...like Disney didn't make enough money off this race from everyone staying there they can't put out a cooler with cups and water. The race packet sucked...for $100 and at Disney you would at least expect a water bottle or a gel...nothing just a t-shirt not even a pen. The race distances were not accurate, it was extremely HOT and they did not have eonough aid stations. The medical people would not help you and there was NO COVER in a parking lot in the hot hot sun at the finish. PUT UP A TENT for goodness sake. The food post race (not that I wanted to eat anything) was pitiful. Oranges, cut up bananas and cut up bagels. There was no good way to get your bike to and from transition as you were not allowed to park at the transition site so you had to ride your bike to

  • Comments: During the expo the race director stated that there would be mile markes on both the Bike and Run course, but their was none, and the volunteers weren't informed either. One told me that their was 2 miles left and the next one (100 yards later) said their was less than a mile. They also said that there would be aid stations every mile, but the first one wasn't until mile 2. The course was very well marked and easy to navigate

  • Comments: For my first olympic size tri... I thought it was great!!! Epcot was fun to run thru. Finish line could have been bigger with Disney characters greeting at the end for some novelty. It was barely noticable, big let down! Starting line was great with the music and the sunrise.. I would reccommend this race, very organized and allowed plenty of time for set-up of transitions. Smooth course.

  • Comments: Many thanks to my coach Patti Harden (Team in Training MD) as she rocks! She gave me every tool in her arsenol to make me be able to preform well. I beat my overall goal (Sub3) by seconds and was able to party like a rok star after the event!!!

  • Comments: Extremely dissapointed with this event. I've done many of WDW events, and this is the first time I see an event downgrade in quality. The swim start staging sucked, and if that wasn't enough, there was not even a finish line! Only the timing pad on the floor and a few scattered flags around. I really don't want to bash the event as I believe in constructive criticism, but this time the event producers failed in creating the "right" atmosphere before and after the race. Check-in, and check-in events were dull, the Expo left a lot to be desired (unlike the one two years ago when it was managed by SommerSports) As usual, volunteers saved the day. Those guys and gals always give their 150%. Many of them worked all the way from early Friday morning, all through the end of the event Sunday afternoon. They just needed better directions on what to do and how to do it, instead of general instructions. Other than that, really enjoy the race, and more importantly, the people I met the
