Swim
Comments: I couldnt swim in a straight line to save my life. I also felt uncomfortable swimming close to other people, so I purposefully swam way outside of everyone. I was surprised how easy the distance was though. What would you do differently?: Learn how to navigate and become more comfortable jostling with people. Transition 1
Comments: I forgot to put on sunscreen before the bike which was really dumb. I also packed too much food for the bike that I didnt end up eating. Otherwise transition was pretty easy. What would you do differently?: Put on sunscreen all over body before swim. Probably wear a tri-jersey under a wetsuit. Bike
Comments: Everyone was passing me on the bike and yet I thought I was going pretty fast. I only passed about 2 people. I need to become a faster biker. I was also freezing in the beginning and hot in the end. My butt was hurting because im not used to never getting off the saddle. What would you do differently?: Train a lot faster for the bike. Get arm warmers. Do bike training without breaking or getting out of the saddle for a long period of time. Transition 2
Comments: I took my time, and yet it was still pretty fast. Very happy about remembering to put on sunscreen at this point, and to take some ibuprofen. What would you do differently?: Invest in a tri-jersey and a race belt so that I dont have to change from a bike jersey to a running singlet. Run
Comments: I thought both my legs were going to cramp and seize on me starting about mile 9. I couldnt run up the second to last hill or my hamstring was about to cramp. I started getting some chaffing on my armpits and chest around mile 8. The aid stations were pretty awesome about gatorade, bananas, oranges, water, and gu. I think I consumed the right amount of fuel throughout the race. As opposed to the bike I was passing people the entire time at what I thought was a slow pace. What would you do differently?: Eat some kind of salt pills to replenish my body so that it doesnt cramp. Invest in Bodyglide and go crazy with it. Post race
Warm down: Walk. Eat pizza. Couldnt stretch or I would cramp. What limited your ability to perform faster: My quads, hamstrings, and calfs. My bike is obviously my weakest of the three. Event comments: Great aid stations and supporters on run, but lacking on the bike. Bathrooms are hard to come by. Last updated: 2006-09-27 12:00 AM

Ate a bowl of cereal and banana. Had everything packed and labeled and tried on the night before.
Set up transition, used the bathroom, and put on my wetsuit. I wish I would have had bodyglide and a small towel for a quick dry out of the swim.
