Swim
Comments: I was nervous about wearing wetsuit since water was warm, so i placed myself on outer edge and never went full out on swim, nice steady strokes never felt tired. When i got out of the water I saw 2-3 people getting there wetsuits pulled off so i stopped to have someone pull mine off. I checked my watch when i got out of the water and it was at 31 minutes and some change. I kept hearing the beep going off and when i looked about 20 meters up the hill there was the timing mat, lost 1-2 minutes here. What would you do differently?: I had planned on taking my suit off, should of stuck with plan and ran out of water, would have save myself a few minutes Transition 1
Comments: besides the issues with the wetsuit stripper no issues except my suit got stuck on my heals. What would you do differently?: stick with original plan Bike
Comments: I missed having my salttabs. Looking back at race i wish i would have pushed harder on hills as i spun them and they were easy. I thought i was going to save myself for the run... as this has been my strongest part. What would you do differently?: remember salttabs - rookie mistake. Overall happy with bike, feel i could have shaved at least 5 minutes off time Transition 2
Comments: I actually sat down to collect myself as both legs cramped on last hill. I remember thinking, i have 13 miles to run.... shit. I just took my time and collected myself Run
Comments: I thought before this race that this is where i would make sometime. leading up to the race, i have been in the 7:30 ish range. I just didn't have it today. 1st mile 8:15, then potty break (20-30 sec's), hit mile 2 right at 16 min range, mile 3 24:30, then started the hills and i fell apart. after that it was run/walk/run/walk What would you do differently?: I will do this race again and i will better prepare myself Post race
Warm down: walked to food/gatorade table. drank a g-ade, ate a banana and some oranges. stretched out and was thankful i finished What limited your ability to perform faster: i could blame it on the salt tabs. I'm not going to do it. I need to get stronger on bike and work on my run strength after the bike on the longer course. Event comments: I really like the course, very challenging. The bike course is awesome. I thought for being an IM 70.3 event the post race would have been better. I like this course even with my run explosion i wanted to run 5:15 at worst case scenario Last updated: 2006-10-06 12:00 AM
